Who else thought this is overrated? Compared to begins, it was crap, only good thing was Heath Ledger. If I didn't know it was the same director, I wouldn't have known. It was too long, too many characters, it felt rushed.
It was overrated, but it definitely wasn't a bad film. The performances were excellent all around... though I did think Aaron Eckhart struggled a bit. I agree that Begins was probably the better film, but it also didn't try as hard. On the other hand, Dark Knight is just so completely watchable and re-watchable that it's hard to say that there's anything really wrong with it. It's not gratuitous or stupid, there are lots of ideas (sometimes too many), and one stellar mind-blowing performance (more than one if you count Gary Oldman). Even if it doesn't necessarily have the visceral impact or emotional involvement of melodrama, it's still got enough strong points for me to be happy about its popularity. I mean, before it came along, Titanic was the so-called biggest film of all time... and it's a dreadful horrible awful fucking piece of shit.
