because of my recent predicament (<3 that word) i will be searching for a new job now, one that will allow me to dread my hair and still allow me to make enough to pay my bills and whatnot...

so it got me thinkin...what does everyone do for a living?

lived jobless most of my life
had my own home businessees but also worked in offices (it) sold computrers, repaired computers made jewlery
soon hoping to live in a bus and tipi on the road using as lil money as possible
    i despise money
i hasve never made more then 5-600 a month and i give away as much as i can..chanfge i fiond so anoyong i used to save quarters for klaundry and pay phones and toss the rest of the change out in the streets or leave it at pay phones

when i was young, 18 i went lil over a year without using money at all, i had exactly 16 cents in my pocket for a year..at a psarty this gorls bragging about how her mom gave her $1000 and shdidnt know what to do with it..so i took out my 16 cents told her it was the only money i had for over sa year and gave it to her to add to her $1000
the next morning i was surprised to find her and her mom at my door..her mom brought her to live with me.
    strange i know

personaly i hope the wholeeconomic system collapses so we can switch to a barter system
money has no real value at all unless u agree to believe it does.
    dont bel;ieve it..its just paper..
do u think sa bilionair is really worth more then you just cause hes got more paper?
how bout that worthless paris hilton chick..
is she better then you because of a pile of paper?

all wars ultimately are about money in 1 way or another
    people swre killed over paper..
it makes no sence and i want no part in it

I looove my job! I provide a wonderful service to children with autism. I teach them how to mainstream or how to be "normal" lol. I know I know...there are many ways to make fun of that. But its wonderful cuz children with autism really have to put up a fight and try really hard just to do simple things we all take for granted....like have a fluent conversation with somebody face to face, play with their peers in a developmentally appropriate fashion, and most importantly learn there is a time and place to do all their freaky autism things. For example...I had a child when for some reason everytime he walked into any given room he had to rub his lips on the wall and then walk to all the corners of the room before he could sit down and be comfortable! That was a hard habit to break him of but I did! Yay!

I have alot of customer service/supervisor positions, mostly in the resort/tourism industry. My fave job was as a supervisor at Value Village-I came home with treasures almost everyday.
Right now I am unemployed, and in the process of starting a business selling handmade goodies at festivals, fairs & markets.

a billion dollars is supposed to be worth a billion dollars in gold.
the reason our paper money is becoming useless is because its not backed my gold anymore.

and hoping our economy crashes is about the most fucked up thing u could have said.
especially after saying that ur some amazing person for not spending money and that a girls mom made her live with u because u can teach to be grateful over what money u have.

u need money to survive in this world.
u make no income, so someone else has to pick up your tab.
dont think that the entire world is willing to do that.
if our economy crashes there will be thousands of homeless and poor.
they wont have a thing to their name and no one would be willing or able to pay for them.

unfortunately in the real world, paris hilton is worth more than u and me.
maybe not spiritually or in any other way.
but she can get all sorts of things that u can never have.
u may not want any of those things, but she can have what ever she pleases.

and do u honestly believe that people would be willing to switch to a barter system?
especially after having several yachts and every other luxury known to man?

EDIT: and i mow my grandmas lawn.

I don't have a job either. Mainly cause i can't get one, even cut all my dreads off in hope to get a new job. I go about 3x a week to talk to managers and have applied everywhere in my area(didnt want to sound like a bum, so i clearified). Also im a college student for Art.
SE you sound exactly like a communist... if you take all the competition and dreams of what people want. What's the point of living? Idt there really is one. Ya equal opportunity to all... Which there is if you work hard enough for it(ex rich kid's mommy and daddy pay for thier new car, and pay all their college. While idk how im gonna come up with all the college tuition, and somehow pay for gas. but i still have the opportunity if i work hard). I do agree I don't need a pair of 100$ shoes or nothing fancy. But still working for something is what makes life exciting.
btw, Im not calling you out. I just think money is important, but too many people are too greed.
I wish i could be caring and giving like that, but i do want things in life. Some which are money based others not so much.

I school it in the morning and work at a thrift store in the evenings. The people there are pretty fun and kind :) We pay charities for the clothing we receive and ship the clothes that don't sell to third world countries. They use these clothes mostly for rags and sell them in their communities. our store tries to recycle as much as possible ( stuff that doesn't sell or is unsellable) but I still hate to see how much does go off to the dump.

Mandy ^ your so sweet. That's an awesome job you have ^_^ You must be a very patient individual.

SE...i completely understand what you're saying, but i disagree to a certain extent...i hate money too, i can't stand it...i hate that i have to go to work to earn some paper that im told is worth something just so that i cna have a roof over my head and food in my belly...but i just can't even begin to imagine that a full blown barter driven system would actually work in today's society...

also...how the HELL do you get along w/o money?

i need a place to live, my apt, $400 a month right off the bat...
add in electricity, water, car payments, car insurance (required by law in texas), cable/internet/phone, ......oh ya...food...needless to say, i dont know what i would do w/o a job aside from going full grizzly adams style living :/ which i do not wanna do...

as much as i hate money, i do love the pleasures of the world, such as video games, movies, alcohol, theme parks, etc etc...all of which require money :(

on a lighter note, i found a place that's hiring dryer vent/chimney/somethin else cleaners...apparantly i can make more working for them than i can where im currently at (no health insurances though :() and they'll do all the training i need...

and i doubt i'd need "neat" hair for that job ^_^ i'll just have to find a way to keep the gunk im cleanin out of the hair of course

ooo thrift store...i'll have to go check around to see if any of them are hirin, that would be a neat place to work :)

mandy, that's awesome! my mom used to work at a pre-school, i'd go help her out during the summers when i was younger...there was one kid there who was autistic, he actually made a LOT of progress while he was there, and today i doubt you'd even know anything was different about him...it's a pretty cool thing to see such a drastic change in a person :)

I take photos of beads and gems at www.firemountaingems.com

It is sort of a family run business gone really big. It is a pretty good experience for the industry, but its not making my happy juices flow very much. I also shoot weddings! I think my dream job would be travel photography or somehow get paid for my personal projects.

I am in the process of building a website now.. have a look if you dare ;D
