(growing question) how many yeilds can you get from on one 1/2 pint rice cake?

say a bunch of shrooms mature and you pick them...how many more shrooms can you expect from the rice cake?

i'm wondering because SWIM said he wants to dry the "first batch" and then eat the others fresh..

number of shrooms is impossible to estimate. or rather, its possible to estimate, but the variance would be such that any estimate would be functionally worthless.

however, depending on growing conditions, luck, etc., a single 1/2 pint cake may yield 3-5 flushes usually, with the most common being 4 flushes (in my experience)

there is no telling how many mushrooms you may get in a single flush, though you should keep in mind that later flushes are often characterized by a smaller quantity of mushrooms, but also by larger mushrooms.

 

Whats the range and whast the average though?

 

There is no average. It all depends on the grower.

For a half-pint cake, I'd guess the range to be from nothing to maybe a half oz at max per flush.

pint jars suck, its all about the wide mouthed quart jars, IMHO.

 

PFTek sucks in general. Go with grains

If you dont let them dump their spores I have found they bust out more flushes. If you take all the boomers ya give the cake blue balls and it will go into overdrive to blow a fat load of spores.

Grain grown usually come out bigger and of more agreeable potency.

 

It's like night and day when you get it down. The hardest part is to just get your moisture content right. Grains produce 100 fold to cakes...

 

what would you suggest to a complete noob that doesn't want to waste moneys though?

 

If you'll look up a "Simple Rye Grain" Casing Tek, and purchase your spores from a RELIABLE Vendor like Sporeworks, Ralphsters, ect... You won't have to invest much money to get started. Not sure if I can post links to TEKS on other sites, if so, just let me know. I'll pm you a good one though!

None of it's too terribly hard if you have the background knowledge and experience. But your experience should start with the PF-Tek.
