What do you like most about a) your dreads b) having dreadlocks generally ?

I like my dreads, because now I don't have to spent any time on my hair in the morning.
So I can stay in bed longer... mmmm...

 

The practicality really is a massive bonus isn't it? I often wonder at it getting so little mention...

 

Ahhhh I love it!!! Wake up....shake and go!!!
I use to spend insanely amounts of time in the bathroom getting ready....like up to 2 hours...ughhhhhhh
Not to even mention the shampoos, conditioners, leave in conditions, gels, frizzease, sprays....on an on and on

I'm loving the way mine look that little bit more knotty every day. No 2 days are the same. When I wake in the morning a don't know whether I'll be looking in the bathroom mirror at a natty-haired goddess.... or a troglodyte

 

I love being able to tie my dreads up with my dreads! I'll never need a hair elastic again!

I also love the fact that I don't have loose hairs to blow in my face & tickle my nose.

 

aye i do like the advantages that they have vs wind, oh and also not being mistaken for a member of the opposite gender which longer hair got me >.<

the respect (except aroubd here for some reason)
for 10 years lived in a really bad drug neighbourghood, full of crack and heroin, where every 10 year old carried a gun
but in 10 years i never locked my door once, never had to fear wandering through the worse areas at 4 am
both cops and criminals alike gave me massive respect and protection
which wass extended to everyone i mnew too.
freinds whod gone there alone would always have scary problems..until they went there with me and got to be known around there as a freind of mine hen they were perfectkly safe as well.
i get that respect practicly everywhere all over the country, except very rare cases in really sheltered backwards kinda towns where they just have no clue biut dreads..but its usualy short lived andthe few ppl who do reacte with disrespect tend to turn around after just a few minutes talking...cant blame em though, its just something they dont understand so they fear it..ive only had that experience though in tiny mountain "towns" that were under 100 people (theres actualy 1 town i found the mayors officde is a barn, with only 3 walls, and another town has a drunken goat for a mayor..literaly, a beer guzzling goat)

i do like that im no longer concerned with how i look or dress or wether ppl approve of my style or any of those silly things
and like someone said..i like being able to sleep in and not have to "get ready" to go out except to put on pants..

oh and dreads are festive around christmass time if u hand ornamints and stuff klike bowws and stuff in em (never tried xmass lights buit that could be fun too)

I love that no products stuff... my whole maintenance routine was cut like... way more than half... and now there is a whole shelf open to hold my funky earrings

I love how they tickle my shoulder when down, and the weight makes me hold my head up higher.... I look people in the eyes now instead of watching where I step...

To clarify SE....I do respect you...your method and how long you have kept them sweaty beasts, no matter what you think. I just dont like being disrespected too. When you sling insults around about headbangers (since I am) I do go to defense mode which results in stupid things flying outta my mouth. I may not have the most poetic reasons for wanting dreads, but I do wish a little respect myself. Okay....so truce??? I wont say anything mean if you dont!!!!

 

deal and i wasnt insulting headbangers i was trying to explain why there is a riff between more religios or sopiritual dreads and fashion dreads
it wasnt about headbangers as people,m but the perception of the small number of em that are of a specific genre of headbangers that portray the image of satanic, death, black metal, the very negative images hat are oposite of the spiritual purposes of dreading..it wasnt a jab at you or anyone just an attempt to show why there is that devide.
it wasnt personal at all
