So, I have been a runner for quite some time doing half-marathons and such (just recreational, I am slow as an ox). I want to transition to triathalons to be come more well-rounded and it fits my schedule better. However....swim caps and bike helmets over dreads? How will they fit?!

just get extra large ones...is a swim cap nesacary? sure the dreads cause drag but your already slow and only wanting excersize ..and added drag means a better workout

the helmet though just get the biggest u can..and use a hammer to pound it on?

I think a bigger helmet would work. There are a lot of football players that have dreads and the seem to fit them in a helmet. Good luck on your triathalon!!

Depending on how long your dreads are, if you get a rubber hat they should stay in however if they are past your shoulder you will have no chance, you pretty much cant swin in pools
