    Magpie attacks cyclist</B>

    30.10.2004

A magpie has put a New Plymouth man in hospital with a broken collarbone and four broken ribs. Ian Paul spent 10 days in hospital after the territorial terror knocked him off his bike. "I've heard the magpie is famous.

He has been doing it for two years," Mr Paul, 57, said yesterday. "Why hasn't someone with a shotgun taken him out?" Mr Paul will be off work for two months.

yeah, magpies are EVIL. They are territorial as hell, and if you cross into their boundaries they will attack you. They are quite big too - bigger than crows and such.

I have a mild bird phobia anyway - it's not helped by fucking magpies chasing people and trying to peck their eyes out. (my grandad had some magpies on his farm that were more agressive than normal ones....omg, they were terrifying)

Actually I saw some footage on tv last night......the person on tv said "magpie" and I remembered this thread and turned up the tv......
then I saw a bunch of birds dive bombing people! How funny........Ive never seen birds attack like that.

oh yeah they are freakily aggresive and even worse if you get near their nest during that time they will want to kill you 10 times more lol :) but they can also make good pets you wouldn't believe you can tame them but you can

When I was 12 walking home from school a magpie swooped and got me in the head. Blood started squirting out of the wound like a sprinkler.

So by the time I got home a couple of minutes later I was covered in blood, even my school bag that I was holding down by my side. My mum was horrified! She thought I'd been in a paint fight in art class.

Thankfully where I live now the magpies don't swoop people but where I grew up they did.
