hey guys..as some of you might know, i am prescribed oxy and endocet for pain management. i currently need 40-50 mg's of oxycodone twice a day to control my back pain. i was wondering if i were to stop taking my meds completetly for a week, would my tolerance have time to drop any? or would the drop be too minor to even be worth it? also to anybody in here who is prescribed the meds, does your doc have a cut off point to how high of a dose they'll prescribe you? im more so seeking advice from those of you who are also prescribed meds for pain management, but to anyone who has any advice, it would equally be valued. thanks
uh... i think you'd withdraw and if you did then it would take a lot longer than one week for your tolerance to go down substantially. maybe wean off and then go a month without them for any worthwhile tolerance change.
ok, yeah thats what i figured. i know for sure that i'd withdraw, but if my tolerance went down to the point where i'd notice after just one week, then i'd put up with it. i'm not gonna bother if i'd have to wait a month, the back pain is just too much..
In my experience short periods(3 days to a week) of time off do make some difference in tolerance, the problem is that it will be noticeable after the first or second time you use and then your tolerance seems to be right back where it was very shortly, so it's not really worth it. I take oxy for pain as well and you definetly do not want to go through WD if you have serious pain problems because the WD seems to make your pain feel even worse than you remember it being.
