Red tar, Red rock opium......what's the deal?

So me and my friend scored some "opium" at a concert couple nights ago. We got a nice sized chunk of what my friend called red tar opium that was real rock like. Afterwords we commence to roll a blunt, pack a chillum with a chunk of the red rock, smoke both at the same time. I definitely felt opiated, though not strongly at all. I at least was pretty numb all over.

So the day after I do a search on red tar opium for the hell of it. I get tons of results about a red rock opium that is apparently not really opium at all. It's just some substance that has been widely distributed as opium.

So I'm thinking I was just feeling some placebo effects. But what's the real deal with this crap? Has anyone ever come across this before? Is it really just total bullshit?

wrong. it is ALWAYS fake, if it is being presented as opium.

and it isn't made to scam people, people just happen to be both stupid and greedy.

it is legitimately a resinous incense. i used to get 50g bags of it at the store for 7 bucks. burn it on a charcoal disk, it smells lovely, but don't smoke it.

but like i said, people are stupid and greedy. while greedy, people take the incense and tell others it's opium and sell it to them. while stupid (or just ignorant), people believe this and pay large sums of money for it.

 

I don't know Nesta, your only stupid if you fall for it more than once.
