just got two new betas. named them in the car, the red one is "Furious George" and the white one was aptly named "The Man."

so far no fighting. but i'm waiting for Furious George to take out The Man.

Do you have them in the same aquarium? I sure hope not. Even if they don't fight(like they're both in seperate containers, but close to eachother), they'll be so stressed out from the other one all the time, and they'll kick. Actually, I have a little story about that. I was in the wal-mart, and they had a bunch of beta stacked up in little glass bowls. I felt so bad, cause they can all see eachother, and about a 1/4 of them were already dead.

Well, sorry for being such a downer. Hope your betas live a long and healthy life.

I seriously hope they're not in the same tank or within view of eachother.

I like Neon's better. But, ya gotta have a dual light cover. One has to be a blacklight. The other white. And the fewer fish in a larger aquarium, the better. They grow larger.
I once had a single Goldfish in a 25 gallon tank. Bastard got to be 9 inches long, and wanted me to PET him. He'd swim to the top of the tank if he saw my hand in the water and rub against my fingers. (Spoiled prick that one was!)

what kind of goldfish? are there different breeds or anything like that?

i just got the 10gal tank, and a large goldfish sounds interesting.
that or a snake that would eat live mice. i just think that would be cool to watch. and i'd onlyhave to feed it once a month or so.

I have a 40-gal eclipse tank with 3 silver dollars, 4 tiger barbs, 2 kissing gourami's, 2 loaches (a skunk and a yoyo loach), and a clown pleco. Oh, and one longfin danio that has survived since the beginning of the tank.

I got a fish tank, well my gf takes care of it. I like the fish in there, but don't know enough about them to tell ya what they are called. it is a 55-gal though.

people say they fight, but mine don't really do anything. i went out and bought a chair just for "fish watching" purposes, and they swim around but never really interact at all.

everyone's already on this one, but i gotta say, i've personally never known anyone to keep a beta alive for over a 8 months. with 2, i'd say they'll be flushing to fishy heaven soon.

violent? ya gotta be kiddin me. is it wrong for a lion to kill and eat a gazelle? for a bear to eat a trout? a hawk to eat a gopher? perfectly natural, fits in the order of nature.

what's wrong with me wanting a snake? and naturally, i'd feed it mice.

What happens in nature is not the same as keeping a snake confined to a tank and breeding mice for the purpose of feeding them to the snake. How is that natural? I think it's cruel to keep snakes in tanks, and where else are you gonna keep them?

hey dude its amazing those bettas arent fighting... they are both male im assuming? because female bettas dont fight... female bettas are smaller n have shorter tails... bettas should tear the shit out of eachother.

I've had two bettas. The first once was a gorgeous indigo, rescued from those stupid plant tanks (I because some stupid asshole thought it would be cute to put a meat eating betta in a tank w/o meat to eat only plants...which bettas DON'T EAT unless starving. STUPID STUPID STUPID). Of course I didn't know this until I read up on bettas. Mind died from too much clorin in the water. My second one bought from the store named Gamma (get it betta...gamma) died from propably being older than I thought. My third and last betta, Firestorm was a whirl of reds, silvery splash and an attitude to match! Flared at his food, flared at the cats, flared at bubbles. But not all the time. He unfortnately died of Ick which took over so fast the meds didn't help. Firestorm was my fav.

As soon as my room is hip with it, I'll have fish again.
