lol it may, but hopefully not. you may be flagged down for a search but they probably won't refuse you entry if you come up clean.

Umm, I've heard of people getting turned back at the border for having a previous DUI on hteir records. One guy had one around 20 years ago and got turned back recently. But then again, I have a friend that has been across multiple times with a past record. Maybe check with the nearest Canadian Consulate. I was coming back from Alaska last month and didn't take the chance driving back but did a search on the internet and from what I came up with, they are getting pretty strict on crossing regulations.

A passport is the most ideal piece of ID, but legally they have to accept any sort of federal or provencial/state ID aswell. Just be calm, make sure your vehicle is tidy and be real polite, everything should be ok.

If he has a record, good luck. I doubt it will happen. There are also better places to cross than others. So depending where you are coming from you will have a better chance. Alberta, and BC i know can be assholes, but saskatchewan is easy.

I have been crossing the border, in Detroit, for years. I was busted for posession a couple of times in the '60's and '70's and have never been hassled going into Canada, but once, last year, on my way back into the states I got hassled big time. I got sent over to have my car inspected and was carrying 4 oz. of Canada's finest. It was hairy, but I got thru, by keeping my cool and being respectful. They had my stash right in their hands, but didn't check the package at all. At any rate...you will need your pictured ID and your birth certificate to get into the states.

    Peace

if he is still growing/ using my advice is to go over the vehicle with a fine tooth comb before you set off

my friends mum inlaw was searched because they found a feathered roachclip hanging off her mirror. (she thought it was 'pretty' ) they basically ripped the car apart and left it on the side of the road for her to clean up with a 'have a nice day' after finding nothing. i can't remember if she was refused entry though, but i think so.

going into the states can suck, went down for bonnaroo this past summer, they found a tiny little crumb of pot in a crease of a paper in my friend's pocket and searched the car to shit, brought dogs, interrogated us all seperately, etc... after a couple hours they let us cause they didn't find anything else.went down for phish the year before that, barely got searched. 10 minutes tops.
both times coming back into canada took 5 minutes.
