9 yo girl pregnant with twins due to rape...by step-father

I read in the news at the first of the month about a 9 year old girl from Brazil that got pregnant with twins when her step-father raped her. Her mother took her to get an abortion. Abortion is legal in Brazil in the case of rape or when the mother's life is in danger. This little girl qualified for both.

I know there is a lot of stigma where abortion is concerned, but come on, this doesn't seem like a decision I would dispute. However, the Catholic Church of Brazil is planning to excommunicate her mother and the doctors that performed the abortion on the little girl. The Vatican is supporting their decision.

The Brazilian Health Minister Jose Gomes Temporao also told Reuters "I believe the position of the church is extreme, radical, and inadequate....I am shocked by the radical position of this religion which, wrongly saying it is defending a life, puts another life in danger that is as important as any other."

Yes, sex is how babies are made but rape should not be. Let's all have a society made of rapebabies. Where the man can just come, rape who ever he wants (despite age) and walk away from it. Sounds wonderful.

2) This story is NOT about a woman, it's about a 9 year old girl. (Not that rape is acceptable at any age.)
3) Sexual assault doesn't just affect women. 1 in 33 men will be sexual assaulted in their lifetime. So maybe you should think about that a minute.
4) Rape has NOTHING to do with reproduction. Rape is a sex crime. Men aren't out raping women to become fathers. People rape animals as well, is that for reproduction purposes? No. It's a sexual fulfillment obsession. A means of empowerment.
5) Elderly women are rape victims as well. Are the men trying to impregnate someone who is impregnatable? No.
6) Lets say you are on to something with the biological reasoning. (Which you aren't) We have evolved as humans and a society. Our "cavemen ancestors" did many things differently than we do now. We have free will. We make the decision to murder, steal, or rape. It is a choice.

*When creating this forum, I knew I would come across people who would be against some things I had to say. However, I am appalled that a human being would justify a 9 year old girl being sexually assaulted. It is wrong. It is sick.

i think this rape issue is something that is being misconceived quite vividly.

i understand that a 9 year old girl being raped is mad fucked up.

but what i dont understand is that most people think (like the thread leader) that all men are this way.

if a young lady who is drinking quite heavily the night prior wakes up next to some random guy and cries "rape" (this has happened to one of my friends BTW) i think this is obviously unjustified.

if she wanted to be safe, she could have definitely came with a friend and told them to watch her, or maybe dont even go to a keg party where there are going to be a bunch of ass-hole egotistic guys around any way.

all im saying is that we are a universe, a society that is raised on women. obviously our "male" dominance is in fear of a women having too much control and men feel that they need to "stand their ground and be respected" etc. etc. these ideas are primitive.

No I don't know this little girl, and I am just relaying information. That is precisely what I am doing. In my thread titled "What to expect from this forum" I say that I will be posting news stories that pertain to women's rights. Abortion rights is a woman's issue. As well as rape. That is why I posted this story. Because the doctors that performed this abortion are at risk at losing their place in their church, for doing something totally humane. No I am not helping this little girl. But hopefully by spreading the word of this unfortunate situation, it will spark a fire in someone. To fight for rights for our bodies. That is my point. Something that I wouldn't expect a juvenile 17 year old boy to understand.
