Both of those statements are stupid... He has bigger things on his plate then bud, he Might but he has to do something about the economy first.
you can solve the economy by legalizing marijuana. that's what the question he answered today was about.
Bigger issues? Apparently this is THE biggest issue for Americans that posses a computer. That's a lot of people, I say he should stop determining what is most important and look at the numbers.
hes not gonna do it. theres no way. you know what people would say if the first black president is the one to legalize weed? i dont blame him.
Some people here just don't get it... There are bigger things to worry about then bud for the Govt. We are at war, the economy is in bad shape, etc. etc. Besides, does it really matter if its legal or not right now? You can still go get your weed and get stoned, legality never stopped any of us.
If you get arrested it will, and not only that but it will cost you alot and can make u illegible for certain jobs if it's on ur record or u get tested
Thats why you don't get caught... Its not as hard as you may think. And getting arrested is too general a term. I'm on probation now and as soon as I'm off I clean my record and I'm on a clean slate, then I just don't be stupid and get arrested. And a job won't test you unless they always do, example: Burger King wouldn't even if I had a meth charge.(although thats a bad example, some good jobs don't test)
Not everybody aspires to work at burger king man. You say they have bigger issues on their plate, the govt. isn't supposed to decide what's best for us, they're supposed to listen to us. Granted, that hardly ever happens, but if the majority of the American people want marijuana to be legalized and its that important to them the govt. has no right to ignore it.
i think obama is sold after reading that convincing argument. it's not that simple. take a good economics class and you'll realize this. not trying to be an arrogant dick, but when i took a couple college econ classes i realized that the economy is way too complex with way too many variables to be able to boil it down to a simple, single issue like that. i'm with you on this one. while i am, and always will be, a strong advocate for the legalization of marijuana, the economy, war, health care, science research and education are much more important than me being able to smoke some bud in a public place. i'm not advocating for weed prohibition at all, but given the current fucked up state of affairs that our country is in and the thousands of issues currently on the president's plate, i can understand that weed is a low priority especially given the predictable resistance and uphill battle that he would face. at least give him credit for essentially stopping the DEA raids on medical marijuana clinics in california. that's a big step for the people who are really in need of the drug.
jesus people, how many times does it need to be said that the president DOES NOT, NEVER HAS, and probably NEVER WILL have the authority to do ANYTHING regarding making marijuana legal or illegal or decriminalized or whatever. the most he can do is veto or sign a bill into law thats been passed on to him by congress, and if they are intent on it even a veto can be overridden. the bush administration's behavior aside, the president has NO power in influencing laws beyond signing/vetoing bills. even if he wanted to, if the regulations set up by the government were followed he COULDNT legalize or decriminalize it
If weed was legalized and taxed, it would definitely help the economy, weed is the biggest US cash crop. And Obama knows this, however America is full of inbred hick rednecks who might find that radical. Although I'm sure that fat fuck Limbaugh would be down with making oxycontin more available. But look on the bright side, the rate at which states are getting medical marijuana laws is increasing, and Obama has stated that the DEA will stop raiding legitimate dispensaries and arresting patients. And California is possibly gonna legalize it, so maybe other states will follow suit (much like with medical marijuana), and I guarantee if enough states legalize Obama will be cool with federally legalizing it.
yea... there was a raid on wednesday. http://www.sciam.com/blog/60-second...ederal-raid-on-california-marijuan-2009-03-26
exactly^^^ Honestly If everyone would just smoke a blunt there would be no more problems. I think obama should force everybody to smoke a blunt. There would be no more war and no more recession. There may be hunger tho lol
Obama has said he favors decriminalization, he said he doesn't support legalization and taxation as a way to fix the economy. And you can't do that on a national level, it'd be political suicide. Anyone who knows politics knows all those dreams about helping the average person and doing what you really think is right all goes out the window once you're elected, otherwise you'll never be elected again and never have power while you are in office.
Your not hearing me dammit! I said thats a bad example, but it is an example. You can still get a good job without being tested, and even if they do test there is a simple solution... Get clean and apply!
clearly that sucks, but any changes in rules, regulations and/or funding that obama has made to stop DEA raids on MMJ clinics is going to take a while to set in and take effect. i mean shit, the guy has only been in office for 70 days or so.
