question: how long does it take from the start until dreads actually start looking like dreads?

soooooooooooooooooooooooooo lux, were yours loose before they started matting and shrinking and eating themselves?

it seems like my head is two separate things, cause the left side was bleached, and that side was more tightly backcombed, so theres no loose dreads, less frizzies, no falling out etc.. so im wondering if these will fall out before they lock up again, or will they just lock up more slowly?

the right side of my head is really loose.. thats where my 'problem' dreads are and the side im more concerned about.. will these ones shrink more?!

the back ones knot(ted) up pretty quickly and were eating all the baby hairs. I I think the loose ones may stay long, I have a good few long ones (more long ones so far) and think they'll stay like that because the ones that have shrunk are in places next to very fine baby hair like the nape of my neck and beside my ear.
I had a thought today though,.,.,Alex waxed a lot and so did Amy (just examples) and their hair doesn't seem to have shrunk a lot if any (apart from what the backcombing did) I wonder if the wax stops the movement therefore forcing it to dread where it's been 'set' therefore, it's not 'able' to knot up backwards like mine is...? Just a thought I had...
