This could be bush's perfect "October" surprise... just enough to scare people into voting for him because without getting anyone hurt. his mantra for this election has been "I'm the only one that can keep America safe", not the economy, not health care, and sure as hell not the environment. bush has wrapped himself in 9/11 and the war on terror and it is his only focus. Where did this tape come from .. and at the same time the "American" Al-Qida .. too coincidental .. err perhaps too much X-Files. Regardless I hate bush and think this is the sort of low level that him and his far right-wing party would stoop to just to remain in command of the country.
If you don't see anything more shocking before November 2, then yes, I'd say so. If it is, it was done pretty well. I saw the tape and he said that it doesn't matter who wins, they'll both be just as bad, etc. I guess Bush is counting on the fact that it'll scare people, which it will.
The tape may have been held by the Republicans for a special release right before the election, but I don't think it'll have much of an effect. I think it's release also gave Kerry another opportunity to show that he'd be at least as tough on terrorists as Bush by publically scolding Bin Ladin. Bush sounds like a broken record, terrorism, terrorism, terrorism, and I think the whole stratagy's starting to wear thin. He's like an old toy that talks when you push a button. When a kid gets sick of listening to its same 4-5 phrases, she throws it in the closet and plays with something else.
Not only Bush, GH. The entire RNC platform has nothing of substance to stand upon save for fear and more fear. Here's a video highlighting just how many times each of their convention mouthpieces repeated the various mantras of fear for their avid crowd of duped flagwaving supporters... http://www.buzzflash.com/contributors/04/10/con04413.html
