Once years ago I ran across a site with an article about the origens of Rainbow Gatherings. In '70/'71 or so four or five of the larger/older communal families on the West Copast called for a council which took place in Oregon or maybe Washington and laid plans for the first Gathering. One of the families that sent folks to the Council was Church of the Good Earth out of the Haight of which I am a long time member. Does anyone recall the names of the other families at that council or know where to find that article?
To the both of you! That last page you posted prana was a nice surprise. In '69 I was living at Salmon Creek untill some weekenders (jocks) from LA threw a beer bust and set fire to the meadow. We all sort of split up then and some of us moved to Vencenti Creek. Later I went up to the Haight with some of the SC family and ended up with the Church of the Good Earth and we sent folks up north to help with the planning. There were at least three other of the west coast families in on the planning as near as I can recall. Again, Thanks...
It was my understanding it was started by Viet Nam Vets. Not getting the welcome home they expected or needed they started their own community. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this and how many were Vets?
I'm fairly certain Plunker was in the service, but I'm not certain if he was in Viet Nam....I have heard that it was a combination of vets & anti-war activists...I know our field kitchen & latrine technology age out of Army field manuals.
Yea Yeah it is have you read it I thought he had saidf he gave you and jenny a hard copy? Peace, Lovin You~tony
