Add to the list of free places: The National Gallery(which houses paintings from every famous painter the world has ever seen). The Tate Modern The V+A museum Other awesome but not free places are: Hampton Court Palace(HenryVIII's home, about 40 minutes from the city centre by train) Kew Gardens(the national botanical gardens, bring a picnic) One other thing I'd suggest is take a walk around Trafalgar Square, Pall Mall, and the Houses of Parliament at 6am on a Sunday morning. It's amazing without the heavy traffic and tourists. Have fun!
Wow, thanks a lot! I'm not sure if I convince my bf to wake up that early, but if not, I can take a walk alone, as we're going to live in the centre. Thank You again, it all sounds so great! It makes me looking forward to August even more!
i`m okey with the sandy beach, but i can`t swim and every single time i get into the water, the same night i puke and puke and puke like crazy. so pretty much every memory i have with the sea involves vomiting
Oh.. I'm sorry about that. I love the sea and water, but I can't swim too far from the sea bank cause I'm afraid of sharks. I don't know why. They might be anywhere.
Aww yay, I'm happy for you How long are you staying here for? I have to write my dissertation over the summer, fun.
now i live about 300 miles away, before that i used to live about 225 miles away, so it's a fair trek i suppose. i would love to go someday, but theres other parts of england and the UK i'd rather see first
sure sure. It just seems weird to me you've never been there. I wanna visit some other parts of England, but London first.
Neither do I. Sharks are virtually harmless. Okay, don't poke at them with sticks or anything, but swimming with sharks is perfectly safe (and awesome). Only around 15 people die yearly from shark attacks, and a moderate number are attacked. If you wanna talk statistics, taking a shower is more dangerous, not to mention getting in a car! Greengirl, that's weird. Maybe you have allergies or something. I would cry for a year if I could never get in the ocean again.
I know. I guess my fear is caused by all those stupid movies about huge sharks killing tens people... I know it's irrational, but...
When you are here, there's lots to do and see. Don't forget the National Gallery and Tate Gallery, and the cheapest sightseeing tour is a ride on a number 11 bus from Liverpool Street.
I'm gonna add this to my notes. Thank You A LOT! I'm currently looking for some cheap hostel, my friend told me she'd take care of this but I don't wanna bother her..
Wow, August! If you are there for the bank holiday weekend(I think it's the last weekend in August), you have to check out the Notting Hill Carnival. It's fucking awesome. A picnic at sunset in the rose garden of Regent's Park is also a great and cheap way to spend a warm August evening.
Camden is a place worthy of a look. I mean, someone else has mentioned the museums, so in terms of education you're covered. But Camden has plenty of culture, definitely recommended if you like anything of a more avant-garde nature
