Dunno...but I have seen A LOT of time lines on here...."hey look at my natural locks at 1 year" and the most of us are "hummmm well where are they?". What is the REAL time expectation for natural/neglect dreads? Pat...NP....anyone????????

lol for real guys, i was just seeing if i was doing something wrong. i'm not abandoning the whole thing just because it's been 2 weeks. it was simply an inquiry of the forum. and natural philosophy, why do you have such an attitude? "jump onto the next trendy hair style in 2 months" fuck off man.

    * i know i am not pat but..* Ive looked at his dread process pictures a million times, and at one year I think it was mostly just a mess of hair. Soon after they finally began to look like dreads. I'm guessing some ripping occurred sometime thereafter.

I think what your hair does is completely dependent on what hair type you have. My natural hair is wavy and curly and it always sectioned itself. I'm guessing curly/ wavy hair types may show faster progress (in sectioning at least) than straight/fine hair. BUT i do not know for sure since i didn't take that route! :willy_nilly:

^ just an example of my hair before & how it sectioned itself

    (&vigilanteherbalist2 you are very pretty :) )

why oh why does everything i say get taken out of context..i say in every single one that natural can take weeks or can take months even sa year i have seen actual dreads form in a week though.. so have others windcriesmary dylanchick0113 and others have seen theyre 1st dreads born in 2 weeks ..im not sdaying they had a head fiull of dreads that fast (windcries pretty much was mostly dreaded in 3 weeks though) all i have ever said ies the year projection for ALL natural dreads is a total lie..most take less time (months) while some take very lil time (weeks) mine took weeks some like the posters freindss take weeks that is not the common case \the average is still about 6 months depending on length and type very long hair literaly dread overnight my sis's ehusband for instance was japanese with hair past his ass he got drunk one night and forgot to braid his hair b4 passing out he woke up 7 hours later with 4 massive fat dreads that took an entirte day to comb out if hed left them in another day they would have become too tight to remove easily but the posters hairs 6 inches not 3 feet his progress will probly be a few months..possibly 2 montrhs to see the 1st real dreads then 6 before its all pretty dready at a guess natural timelienes are very hard to predict all i ever said was that it most likely the 1-2 years projection of dreadheadhq is nothing like what they should expect itrs more rare for it to take over a year then it is to take under a month they that as a scare ctactic to pusu inmto usuing theyure waxy methods i think if the poster posts pics every 2 weeks the 2nd set or 3rd will show the 1st baby dreads..actual dreads..bnot tight or fat yet but dreads nonetheless look at darthkacies thread..she had dreads in 2 weeks..only a couple and not real tight or noticable yetr (blending into her very dark hair) but they were thgere..dreads becomming more real week by week

I don't know, soaringeagle, if you meant it was me taking things out of context? What I meant was the difference between what other dreadies can recognise as the beginnings of dreads, versus what normal people might see. You know?

I'm pretty sure I took nothing out of context so you probably didn't mean me. Just saying incase.

from what ive seen on friends and others, thats hardly true.
the vast majority of natural dreads ive seen have taken well over a year to mature.
yeah some people have super fast locking hair (i know a beautiful set of purple locks that largely formed in weeks), but its really inaccurate to apply that to everyone who wants to get natural dreads.

if you saw my hair before dreads, you probably would have said the same thing to me, that it would dread fast (b/c you seem to say that to everyone). i had super thick, wavy crazy hair. but the reality is that my hair locks very slowly. at 2 years of the backcombing method, im only starting to see my locks as mature. imagine if i had gone natural...

imagine if you actualy washed your hair then it may have dreaded faster

in rainbowland i know thousands of dreads, i doubt 1% of em are not natural most were born at 1 gathering or another over the years
and id guess most were formed while at tbhat gathering wether they were there a few weeeks or a couple months

Hey, could you show us a pic of the level of "formed" dreadlocks you're referring to after that amount of time? E.g. so we all know exactly what you mean when you say someone had dreads after a few weeks or a couple of months in the wildnerness etc.

My hair in the back is all natural.....Im a lil over 6 months and it still hasnt dreaded...but it is sectioned together. Its weird...It hasnt knotted at all but insists on sectioning in the same places with the same groups of hair even after showers. How does it know to do that? And why hasnt it knotted? Dunno. But It took 6 months for it to section...so Im assuming it'll take another year or two to start really dreading. Just a predicament though...we'll see.

    good one!
look at my pics and tell me my hair looks greasy or dirty.

and for the sake of the argument, i used soap until maybe a year ago or less. too bad it made my hair extra greasy and i had to wash more often.
