I would just get the kava powder off the internet. Someone 18 has to sign for it when it arrives (atleast here in the US), so that has raised questions with my parents but I just tell them I use it to sleep.
Thanks for all the info man! Could you possibly give me a link to the site that you order off of? My interst is piquéd enough that I really want to try this now.
http://www.nakamalathome.com/ is a good place to get kava powder to make some quick cold kava drink. Apparently in Boca Raton, Florida theres this kava bar that sells strong kava but i have yet to try it But for real good organic kava products, try http://www.konakavafarm.com/
There are a few good sites on the web that sell kava. I have bought from them and have never had a problem.
I took a tablespoon of kava once and it was carazay. I was seeing double. One of my friends got really into it, and did exceptionally well on the SAT on it.
I've never gotten much but mild sedation and elevated blood pressure. No matter how much I did. And now that people have caught on it's more expensive than it used to be.
Me and my friends do this all the time at school. it helps you think and makes you really good at math. The extract is where its at. its good in gatoraid or tea
It's so fucking nasty if you do it the fastest and most effective way. I put like 2 ounces of vitamin water with a tablespoon of kava, and basically took it like a shot. So fuckin nasty.

I would strongly recommend staying away from two things: 1) Kava in pill form. Kava has been used for thousands of years by millions of people without ill effect. These people either a) chewed the root and spit out the woody root or b)strained the root through some medium (ie: coconut leaf, hau tree bark, tshirt, etc...) Kava is never eaten. The reason is it is a very hard and uncooked root. Eating it is hard on your system. Also, pills are expensive. For the same price you would pay for kava pills you could get 3 times as much pure kava root. 2) Kava bought on ebay. Kava is grown in very few places here on planet earth. Only one state in the US has the environmental requirements to grow kava. Hawaii. When buying kava off eBay you are most likely buying from a country in which you probably have never been. Would you order food from a developing nation? I wouldn't unless I knew who the hell was making it. Also, as a kava grower and buyer (I own a kava bar in Hawaii, http://www.kavakafe.com/ , shameless advertising) i have seen people bulk up there powdered kava with worthless roots of assorted plants to gain weight and thus increase profit. I personally would only buy from a reputable kava grower or dealer and not some mysterious third party. But I'm kinda picky when it comes to ingesting strange dirty liquids, call me crazy. Kava has the ability to really make you messed up (shouldn't drive, shouldn't really leave the house...), make you relaxed (stressful situations aren't, ie: making a speech, taking a test, asking someone on a date) or feel nothing at all. It all depends on the ratio of quality and quantity. Like anything you don't need much of the really good stuff to get the feeling. Also, you could drink a ton of the really weak stuff and not feel much. I grow and sell two main varieties: Hiwa (sacred, tall, dark kava, was one of three kava plants offered to Pele the Goddess of the Volcano) and Honokane'iki (ancient, tall, bright green kava, discovered in a valley near my kava bar, the valley as you may have guessed was Honokane'iki) I like the "high" these two plants give you. Hiwa gives you a mellow feeling that allows you to be social but when alone allows you concentrate very well and dive into your mind without effort. This is what I give to people who have trauma to work out in their head, or who need to take a test. Honokane'iki gives you a happy feeling and makes your muscle pain disappear, it's great for a party or social event. This is the one I like to serve during dance parties or reggae shows. If you have more questions please hit me up. Aloha.
I think I paid twenty dollars to drink this crap at a bar in South Beach once. I was so pissed at the price I had to spend twenty bucks on shots to calm my sorrows..lol.
i looked at that kava kafe website and there were pictures of adults with their kids and stuff - i definitely wouldn't let my kid be doing a mind altering substance as some have said kava is and i definitely wouldnt bring my child with me while i do it...
No different than parent's drinking alcohol around their kids. And I didn't see any pictures of kids drinking it.
Kava doesn't have an age requirement. Certain varities of kava where given to children to calm them (hawaiian variety, Nene, aka: Black Spotted Nene). But that being said, I don't sell this drink to kids. I draw the line at 16 years of age. People in hawaii (and all places) of all ages are gonna find ways to relax and alter their consciousness. I prefer that 16 year olds drink kava any day over drinking alcohol, or something similar. It is nonaddictive, legal, and safe. Kava is the drink of peace. Kava doesn't cause fights. Kava doesn't cause rape or robbery. I have had two fights in the kava bar. Both times it was a drunk person coming and causing trouble. It isn't a mind altering drug in the since that mushrooms, or salvia is. It is simply a relaxant, it's different than marijuana or alcohol. It's subtle and not in your face (how we serve it). But, there is a reason people worshiped this plant for thousands of years. There is a reason people made this plant the highest offering one could give to a god. In a bar setting you don't get the in your face kava experience. People don't like to get wacked on kava in that sorta setting. They prefer to relax, talk with friends, meet people, and have worries fall away.
