so today me and a couple of friends are fishing on MY PROPERTY out in the country. we hadnt been there 10 min when some nature cops on a power trip come up and ticket us for fishing without a license. now this wasnt serious fishing; we were just dicking around. we hadnt caught anything, and had nowhere to keep them if we did. they stole our beer too. shits fucked.
check your state laws. here you dont need a license on your own property. if its the same where you live, you can beat it. not sure about your friends tho.,
i know thats what i thought but i told that to the cop and hes like "you dont own the water or the fish do you?" what a tool. im from ny if anyone knows the laws here.
Says a man has the right to feed himself or so I'm told the Supreeme Court says. An 80 year old friend of mine tells game wardens when asked "Are you fishing?' or something to that effect "No. I'm trying to get something to eat." It works for him. Of course the Constitution went out withe the Patriot Act....
most states dont require a license for anyone over 65. that probably has a lot to do with your friends case..
You own the land. You don't own the water flowing through it. Then again you're 19 and you know everything. Including the fact you were breaking the law by drinking beer. You got off light, considering this.
umm please tell me how is that obvious? its in my dads name if thats what you mean. not that thats relevant. its owned by my family. the cops acknowledged that.
i thanked the officer for not charging me with the beer. i still dont think its right that i cant casually fish on my own property.
i know seriously cop got a boner when he heard i didnt have a license. i dont understand how ticketing fishers all day even constitutes as a job.
I think you need a gate to block access to vehicles onto your property..but I do think it is pretty lame to get a ticket for fishing on your own property..I get tired of all the permits you need to do anything..
No stick in my ass. I love NY. But I won't live there. Your daddy might own the land but the state owns the waterways. Suck it up and pay your fine or fight it in court. Not my problem. Mod, please move this thread to "The Whiners".
theres no road to go back where we were they walked up the creek but i dont see how the cops coulda came back there when anyone else could get arrested for trespassing. they were questioning me about what rights i had to be there, but what about them? basically, cops can do whatever they want.
