so today is 3 weeks and 2 days. i just wanted to give an update on the hair. i recombed some of the hair because a lot of it came out after i took the bands out. i put the bands back in for about a week and a half. i also started to use a sea salt + lemon juice + water mixture each day on my hair. i took the bands out last night for good. so this is what they look like as of now, or as you can see, i changed the color of them too

looking good. those are super short...about the same length I started...maybe a little shorter. But 14 months in and almost all are down to my shoulders. Forget about them and the process will fly before your eyes.

i put them back in once most of the hair went straight and i talked to someone that has dreads that i really like and he said the same thing happen to him and he put the bands back in for the first month then took them out and had no problem with them after that. i changed my bands every 3 days after i wash them. but i am happy with out they are tightening up with the salt water mix so i am leaving the bands out.

Lol White Snow... it's like in the sexy thread the other day with that guy (sorry can't remember name) and it was like "Wow your dreads look perfect!...did you use wax?" :p

Looking good for three weeks there :) You said you changed the colour...e.g. you coloured them and went through all the thorough rinsing while they are so young, and they didn't fall out completely - nice one :)

I still find the thing thats locks my hair up the fastest is exercise. All the movement and sweat really make the shit knot up quick. You add a loose fitting hat to the equation and you have even more knots. So if you like to do physical activity it helps a lot.

    thanks everyone.

amybird : yeah i was worried that they might fall out after the coloring and rinsing but they held together really great thanks to the mixture i have been using. each day i use it, that night i can feel a big difference. also this color looks SOOO much better then the color color.

shagygrov: i use to work out everyday but i havent in a couple of months. been to busy with a freelance job but starting next week i will be starting again, hope that it works great for my hair to

well, here is a pic of the other color and with the bands in so you can see the difference. next week will be one month, so excited! the time as gone by so fast!

vulgar: how long did it take before the tips started to round out on your dreads?

thats the only thing that i want to spend up, i found a video of someone that crochet the tips (video is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1n2qAbJK1s) but i really havent decided if i wanted to do that or just wait

well, i did backcomb mine, but they were real loose and whatnot, so it took a while to tighten up, but after burning my tips a fews times, i started palm rolling alot, especially when my hair was wet, it seemed to help my tips and the rest of the hair tighten up. so i would say after i started with the rolling i would say about 3 - 6 months they started to round out. dont know if it will work the same for you, but it worked for me,, good luck, and keep posting update pics... and anyother questions, there are tons of helpfull peeps here to give a good tip or two.
