i'ma bicycle person. seems every few years someone feels sorry for me and gives me a car... ugh. i usually end up selling it with a year of receiving it. i ride the bus if i have to go anywhere too far to ride my bike. you might be able to get a used bike cheap on www.craigslist.com i have a friend who is in his mid 40's who has never even driven a car... i think thats awesome! he's in really good shape from always riding a bike and living in the hilly SF bay area.
No. It is just a motor attached to the rear wheel. I suspect you could get one that had a generator on it too. I know people build their own to all kinds of specifications. I was thinking about putting a generator on it and also running the lights off the motor too. I opened the motor up and all these springs popped out, so I put that all back and left alone. I then opened up the casing that housed the wires for the motor/handle bar grip etc and thought: "Mmmm I think I'll leave that alone, too." Yes. http://faq.ezipusa.com/ It is only meant to assist, so the motor kinda dies going up any kind of steep gradient. It gets you there in the end though. With help from your legs. I'm sure there are more powerful bikes on the site I linked to earlier. You can spend silly money on them if you choose to. I chose not to.
i ride my bike, or walk..pretty much everywhere i ago, for about a year now. i sold my car a year ago and just decided not to buy a new one.i take the bus here and there, ride with friends, but i walk and bike mostly everywhere
I have not had a car in three years and it is great. One less hasslein my life.To get around,I take the bus or I walk. The only material possessions I own are my clothes and my backpack and a radio.
Not at all. Sounds like you could do it fairly easily. Find out the rules on auto insurance. I actually insure (storage rate) the car (hasn't run in two years) so that I have continuing coverage. the current company says that if I prove I sell it (scrap , donation, whatever) I can get a no coverage/no need waiver so when we do get a vehicle for my sweetie, our insurance isn't sky high.
Just thought I'd update that we sold it last week. Very happy with our decision. A bit more $ in the bank and no real changes since we rarely used it anyhow. More room in the yard now too. It was a pretty unsighly thing so it looks nicer back there to boot! LOL...so far, so good!
i am 21 and have neither a car nor a license.... i tried twice to get my license when i was still letting my mom beat me over the head with all that 'everyone needs a car' rhetoric.... i either walk, take a bus, or if me and my Dad are goin somewhere then he drives and i am a passenger. i get a lot of comments regarding my lack of license but it doesn't really bother me anymore. It is THEIR hangup, not mine.
I have not had a car in three years and it's been working out fine for me,less worries.Bus is my only transportation.
yeah i'm a lousy driver too... i almost got into a slight fender bender and about 10 minutes later almost got into another auto wreck.. Not because I am a lousy driver but because I was hungup on the near fender bender 10 miles back and not paying enough attention to the now. That makes me a lousy driver.
procrastinating getting my permit. bleh, who wants to drive and spend all their money on gas anyway? i dont even have a job. i take public transit or walk. so many people i know think it's lowly to ride the bus because of the weirdos that are always on there. i just say hey those are my people youre talkin about. lol
people used to say that all the time when i lived in Vancouver, WA - "oh dont ride the bus, there's a bunch of homeless on there looking to shake ya down"... so i rode the bus not knowing what to expect because i had never rode public transit before... Not one criminal or 'homeless lookin to shake me down' not one creep.... Those qwazy people!
^ I know! There are homeless people occasionally and weird people that talk to you. but i only notice because ive been riding the buses since i was an infant, and i live in an only semi-decent area in south florida. anyway, its not life-threatening, so people should just get over it put in your music and look out the window.
I ride my bike pretty much everywhere I go, but the only reason I'm not in college is because I don't know how to drive or have money for the car... So its a weird loop.
hey Pushit- I don't really know how the bus system works in CDA, if you do would be willing help me out?
I don't know how it works. I haven't tried them out yet so I really just know they're casino shuttles but they make a lot of stops.
yeah there's a bus stop a little ways from my apt. but I'm afraid I'll take the wrong one, end up in Riverstone, and then try to get back home and end up in Spokane, or worse yet a stupid casino... lol
