As a recovering drug user, sober as of only 9 days ago, I am either suggesting a recovery forum or asking where it is if it already exists.
i like this idea, with people recovering, and starting abusing every day a recovery forum would be appropriate
There's a Suggestions forum. If it wasn't an April Fool, I think it's a damn good idea. Not saying that I'd participate much....But a damned good idea.
I also like the idea Psychedelics and alcohol are like wind and water to me, but I am technically an opiate addict who is quitting, so I can understand where your coming from goofy. After a few more posts maybe myself or salmon can suggest to Skip? I dont know that's it ever been suggested before, as hard as that is to believe
i think it has been suggested before, but i think its a good idea. however, i don't think the psychedelics forum would be the best location for it.
why not? this forum should show both positive and negative side of drug use, and I feel with all these kids around that its lacking in the downside of abuse
i think it's a good idea... a few people have left the forums cuz they quit drugs... why are you quitting goofydrummer?
that explains it. that post became of me cleaning off my keyboard after splilling whiskey on it fuck. I did too much K tonight. Still im trying to get sober. Any wharf rat kids on here? If you've had any experience going where there the water really tastes like wine let me know wats up. peace out kids. good life to yall love ya
I know a lil bit how you feel I still want to do a few lines of blow now and then but I dont touch that stuff anymore, spent way too much money on it back in the day
because a sobriety-positive forum should, in my humble opinion, be primarily focused on support for recovery and focus on the positive aspects of abstinence, rather than simply badmouthing drugs and blaming the substances rather than identifying personal behavioral patterns, emotional issues, and other driving forces of addiction. primarily, however, i feel the psychedelics forum is the wrong place for such a forum out of concern for the frequenters of said forum. not everybody has the willpower to quit using substances to which they've become addicted - this is the reason for support groups like AA, NA, etc. if a sobriety forum is created, i personally believe that it should function in a similar manner to such support groups, without the structure or membership. a forum wherein people can discuss their issues, problems, and triumphs, and not surround themselves with people talking about using, producing, selling, or purchasing drugs, or plans to do such things in the future. this information will be here regardless, and i am not so naive to think "they'd never find us" but to me it would be akin to having an AA meeting in the closet of a liquor store. clearly there is no drug dealing going on over this board, but i would think having the forum exist outside of the psychedelics forum as a whole would allow people who choose not to surround themselves with the "glorification" of drugs and drug use and abuse to still engage in discussion related to quitting, would allow them to support each other and help the recovery process without necessitating them wander into this lion's den of data. i could assume critics may say that only the weak willed would have troubles with temptation via text, but i would counter that the weak willed are precisely those people who would most benefit from such a forum. having a sobriety forum, as it's own category, seperate from but kept nearby the psychedelics forum (perhaps with specialized subfora dealing with specific types of addiction) would be the best solution, allowing easy access to such information if they so choose to seek it out, but not forcing it upon them should they think it best to avoid the psychedelics forum.
This has to be one of the most intelligent and thoughtful pieces I've seen concerning the topic of sobriety- characterizing it as a distinctly separate concept from anti-drug.
