So I just joined a shmancy new gym which has all kinds of yoga classes as part of its program. I want to give it a try, partly because I need to increase my tone and flexibility, but mostly because I need a new approach to dealing with stress and anxiety.

Anyway, does anyone have some advice on what kinds of yoga are good, especially for beginners? Just glancing over the schedule they gave me here are of the types on offer:

    Hatha
    Kryoga
    Satyananda Sukham
    Vinasa
    Bikram
    Pranayama

    hatha is usually slow
vinasa -actually spelles vinyasa is a flowing yoga from one posture to the next
    bikram - is hot slow

if you have a normal personality I think you may find bikram and hatha boring at first, I did, not to mention you really don't get the internal heat going which really aids in not only stretching but preventing injury. So i'd say start with vinyasa as it will let you build up the needed heat. Try them all! oh ya and tell us which you like!

I know bikram is usually in a really hot room, but i mean it can be 110 and I still don't sweat if i'm not moving much

if you dont sweat in a 110 degree room youre an alien

i say try vinyasa first, not ure what the other ones are, heard bikram is great. look up th websoite for Bikram and read about it. it was named after someone who recovered from serious illness through this actual routine.

    have fun
