    Anyone seen this movie?

If not, go see it on google video for free.

I'd heard it was horrible and not worth watching. Then a friend sent me a link to the entire movie on google video and, having nothing better to do, I watched the whole thing.

Its certainly not all that great compared to Fear and Loathing. But. . . I gotta say, Bill Murray did a really good Hunter S. Thompson. . . much better than I would have thought. And Fear and Loathing borrowed a lot from that movie. The writing isn't great but if you're an HST fan than I think you owe it to yourself to at least see this movie.

    Thoughts?

I thought it was a pretty good movie. Not comparable to fear and loathing of course...

Well. It's not a bad movie at all. I enjoyed it.

Second. Fear and Loathing is an adaptation of the book. Where the Buffalo Roam is not a book however.

You are right. Fear and Loathing (the movie) was an adaptation of the book, whereas WTBR was more of a mish-mash of various bits and pieces of HST stories and some original content as well. However, if you watch both of these films you can find a lot of things that transferred over from F&L to WTBR.

One gets (or at least I get) the idea that Terry Gilliam saw WTBR and saw great things implemented badly in a mediocre movie, and wanted to take all those great things and implement them well in a great movie. And he succeeded, as we all know.
