You know i did actually happen upon it recently, thinking it used to have said something.

But "wikipedia" didnt remove it, someone removed it from wikipedia.

It's because nobody can find a proper reference to that statement about celts anywhere. If you can cite it with a reference to a history book or something with some authority then it would have stayed on wikipedia. It's all for the best, if wikipedia didn't have a clean out it would soon fill up of statements not based on and facts

Finally someone said it, from what i remember that shit randomly started popping up a few years ago on some of those shady ass "how to make dread" sites. Not that i think its impossible, but i havent really seen it on anything legit.

It makes sense, since vikings probably had dreads and have really good hair for it, and were interbred with the celts for a while.

the supposed text written by Ceasar is in Commentarii Iuli Caesaris de bello Gallico but, someone on a website claims to have read through and found no such quote.

Frankly I don't give a crap if my Celtic ancestors had locks or not. I would never use this as a reason to have locks.

This is the reason, and I fully agree with it.

    whats it matter?
theres not a single culture on earth that didnt have some ppl have dreads
i dounbt there one that had all its people dreaded either
dreads happen and are hard to avoid under some circumstances so no matter what culture you look ast there will bve some who dreaded wether intentionaly or accidentaly..its what hair does
the only subcultures that may not have ever had dreads would be certain religios sects that required the head to be shaved (and thats very much limmited to only the monks)

I agree that it doesn't matter, but I completely disagree with your other statement. I studied anthropology for three years and there are many, many, societies without dreadlocked people.

I get pointed at by groups of black guys on occasion and they happen to think im trying to be like them, or something... obviously just ignorance, but i wish people would be more educated that african culture is not the only natural culture for dreads.
