Apparently, Johnny depp, tom cruise, jim carey and michael j fox were all considered for the roll. that's pretty interesting. Johnny Depp would've been cool, tom cruise would've been too good looking for the role though. jim carey would have been over the top for the character, and michael j fox was have been a suitible choise as well.
That's an interesting bit of information you shared with us...Your observations about each actor are spot on, mate. Can't imagine anyone else but Broderick doing it justice. Ferris Bueller's Day Off was one of the classics of the teen genre from that era, and is still loved today. Never be another like it...Shame I don't have it on DVD. Ed Rooney- "Les jeux sont faits. Translation: the game is up. Your ass is mine."
Didn't they try for a TV series and it sucked...like sucked great big, hairy monkey balls it was soooo bad? Check this out: From Wikipedia: In 1990, a series called Ferris Bueller started for NBC. Starring Charlie Schlatter as Ferris Bueller, Jennifer Aniston as Jeanie Bueller and Ami Dolenz as Sloane Peterson. The series served as a prequel to the film, even though, in the pilot episode, we see Schlatter cutting up a carton board of Matthew Broderick, saying that he hated Broderick's performance as him. Apparently, John Hughes, who directed Ferris Bueller's Day Off, disapproved of the series[7] and tried to fight its production. But he failed and it was produced by Maysh, Ltd. Productions in association with Paramount Television. The series was cancelled after the first thirteen episodes aired. Both Schlatter and Aniston later had success on other TV shows, Schlatter on Diagnosis Murder and Aniston on Friends. Never saw it, thank God.
