I have been wearing 100% wool beanies to help with the natural locking process, is it alright that these are pretty tight beanies that i've been wearing? as opposed to lose ones so the hair has more room to move i guess idk does it really matter?
My friend had a tight wool beanie that didn't seem to help much. His hair has locked up significantly more since he stopped wearing it all the time iggy:
I think it's okay to wear tight tams just as long as it's not all the time because the dreads will congo. You could wear one to sleep in then take it off during the day. I probably think that you could get away with wearing a tam all the time providing you ripped a lot. Baggy mohair tams do a really good job at helping the locking process.
You should get unicorn wool. It's the best kind Or just get some of Domekatrix's lemon spray... INSTANT TIGHTNESS yeah i'm a jerk
there is no way to speed up the process. wool is going to help you about as much as any other material. the best you'll get is bits of wool fuzz stuck in your hair
i think maybe just alternate between hat and nothing on your dreads. Im always confused on whether wearing a tam is better or not? Because I always thought that not wearing one meant your dreads were free to move around and knott. But also I used to wear a tube LOADS which was quite tight and underneath was dreaded so fukin well! So yeah anyway Im decided as to if its better or not. I know that wool is best as the little fibres in pure wool cause friction on your dreads helping them knot.
When I do construction type work outside I pull my hair back and wear a baseball hat. If I do this all day for several days and don't let them move the instantly start knotting together and have to spend a good while ripping them apart. In the beginning I wore a beanie and it didn't help much except keep my hair flat. Mine didn't move much in there. I would just wear it down without a hat for optimum results. Where a hat when you want but not on the account it's going help your dreads.
