My dreads have suddenly gotten alot thicker, litterally about twice as thick, maybe about two and a half times thicker. Anyone know a reason for this?? I'm not bothered by it, I welcome it actually, just curious. Pics below. You can see the two inches coming from the roots are significantly thicker
so you are saying that the diameter of the lock is thicker at the roots than the tips? this means your lock is locking to the size of the section you made for it. if you mean it's just getting thincker in diameter all around, i would say that means you tips are getting sucked towards the roots and it's locking more! whoo hoo!
how were they started? were they palm rolled at all possibly theyre just becomming the thickness they woulda been if left alone
I tried neglect and got no where after a long time, my hair just wouldn't knot, so I backcombed and eventually they matured
yeah this is how mine were, now they are filling out all the way to the tips. it's definitely a good thing, mean's they're shrinking and locking up solid, it just looks a bit strange for a while.
Maybe there's more falling-out hairs that got trapped up higher in the roots, as opposed to the tips. Likeeee, had it knotted up naturally the hairs that fall out daily would have gotten trapped and the ends wold be as thick as the roots about. But since you helped the knotting along, the ends didn't have time to "catch" all the hairs that would have fallen out over time whereas your roots have. That's my hypothesis, anyways.
