Just planted 13 random seeds from twenties that I have gotton. They have not broke the surface yet but that should come in the next few days and when that happens i will have some pics. I will keep this journal all the way to the end (hopefully) and maybe I will have some questions along the way.

Here is the first question. It is supposed to be 32F a couple of nights next week. I should bring them inside for the night right? Just making sure because it will be alot of trouble to do so. But anything for my girls!!!

32f seems a little too cold for my liking if there not in a sheltered spot or got some kinda protection from the cold and wind. Although a big plant could easy cope with a few nights like that small plants could too but its all stress and at the wrong time in life cycle to be putting them through it.
Good luck with ya grow and keep us all posted.

So I brought my plants in just a minute ago and they look okay. Twelve of the 13 seeds have made it to the top and are about to put out their first leaves. Anyway the freeze threat has gotton worse for my area. The plants are sitting in a closet for the time being. Is it okay for the plants to be inside for an extended period of time without natural light?

If ya mean by closet there in the dark then they wont last more then a few days before there start to get affected. I'd string up a few eco bulbs of the 6400k type on a timer to keep them going over the cold period just to be safe.

Well I made it through the cold snap and I rigged a light to shine on them 24/7. I am going to put them outside tommorow and let them continue. They have just started to put out their first serated leaves. Most of them have got 2 inches tall. When should I put them into the pot or spot in the ground that they will stay in for the rest of the time? They are in small seed starters now.

well if you want them to veg out keep them on the 24 for a while, but if you gotta move them out wait a minute.... you need to keep them into a hole where the taproot will have plenty of room to grow straight down, that is if theyre not in a pot, if theyre in a pot that wont matter(even though its crucial!)..haha... goodluck let us know

Would of thought it depends if ya feel lucky on the weather to if ya wanna plant them out but at 2 inches still small 4-6 would be getting there then place in a cold frame to harden up before planting out in final spot.

Been a while since i last posted. The plants look good, most of them at least. The stems look sort of weak. There are some that are standing almost straight up, but then there are some that have drooped so far down that they are horizontal with the soil. The thing is though that the plant still looks healthy. Is this normal? The stems are about six or so inches, some are a little more. The seed leaves have fully opened up and the first plant leaves have also fully opened up with two new leaves coming perpendicular to the first two.

I'd say thats pretty normal for a first atempt at growing for seedling to flop over ya need to prop them up with something so there upright again.

yeah, maybe a bigger pot, better soil, or a 1/4 strength nutes, I dunno your situation but sounds normal...get them some SUNLIGHT, they should stretch that far at that age

don't add ANY nutes yet....just prop them up with something, or re-pot them and bury most of the stem......even right up to the seedling leaves.

The plants are looking good. We have had about a week of 80 degree weather so that has helped alot. Most of them have straightened out and are looking great. I really need to get some pictures don't I? Oh, a couple leaves look like they have been eaten, like there is little patches taken out of them. Any ideas on how to stop this?
