Oh fuck uhhh... Ken Kesey for sure... Neal Cassady... Jim Morrison... Janis Joplin... Timothy Leary... John Lennon... Jack Kerouac... Bob Dylan... Country Joe MacDonald... Jerry Garcia... Hendrix...
If this is about entertainers, I really cannot think of any I would really like to talk to. Even without the Beatles, it would have been essentially the same decade. If Martin Luther King, Jr. had not been present, things would have been much different. The civil rights movement would have been less successful. Jim Crow legislation might still exist. Dr. King is the one I would like to spend some time talking to.
Yeah, I have no use for icons and although I might dig some of them I don't have anything to say that they probably haven't heard in other conversations with fans. I rather just enjoy their music (or other accomplishments if were talking non-artists).
Some of these guys are still here, so if you named someone still alive, you can have your wish! On another note, I discovered that I have a friend who exchanges the occasional email with Country Joe, so, Pax-Man, I asked him to find out what the lyrics of "Not So Sweet Martha Lorriane" were all about. heh. Maybe we'll get to the bottom of this, yet.
my fave: "well you know /its a shame and a pity you were raised/ up in the city/ and you never/ learned nothin' bout country ways/ OOOWWW! bout country ways"
Jimi Hendrix John Lennon Jerry Garcia I don't remember if had to be if they died in the 60s. But they were definately icons in the 60s. :]
"Look at my generation. How did that work? Jimi Hendrix. Brian Jones. Janis Joplin. Keith Moon. The list is fucking endless. They’re dead people. My life is full of dead people. My friends are dead. My friends. They might be your fucking icons. They’re my fucking friends. They’re dead. Dead people in my life. Lots of them. People that I knew, fucked, loved, played with, grew up with.” - Pete Townshend Peace Out, Rev J
