hey guys/gals.. i know that xanax is used to treat anxiety and in some cases to be used as a sleep aid. but my question is, if i am nervous about speaking in front of groups of people, would my doc consider writing me a script for these? or is this not a legit enough reason?
I doubt you would get it for that reason. Say you can't get to sleep and wake up really early, can't interact socially, have thoughts of suicide, etc.
I happened to take a diet pill the day I went to the Dr. which increased my heart rate. He asked about why it was so high, and I told him that I'd been struggling with anxiety. Told him I was plagued by worry and felt like everyone was judging me all the time. He wrote me a prescription for .5mg.
I told my doctor that I would start breathing fast, sweating, and have occasional nausea when I was in social settings. I also said that before I moved to the town I am now in that I was prescribed effexor for anxiety but i did not like it. the doctor then said, "well do you want to try effexor or something else?" i told him that i would rather try something else and then said i had taken some of my sister's "alprazolam" before and that it worked well. he was like, "well that is xanax" and i played dumb and now i am prescribed 60 of the 1mg footballs... -NICU
Maybe if you said social anxiety or just being nervous around other people. You can't stand going to the mall or big events with too many people. Mind racing, stress, etc.
My best friend got Xanax for public speaking issues. It was a low dose, and he doesn't abuse it, but still. It's an anxiety medication...why are people saying that you wouldn't get it prescibed for this... Yes, you can easily get prescribed xanax for anxiety, considering that is what the medication is FOR. Please don't listen to this kid. Xanax isn't an anti-psychotic. Saying you have suicidal tendencies will most likely assure that you will not get a prescription, and you will get a psychiatric evaluation. Worst advice I have ever heard. Xanax isn't a sleep medication either. Also, when instructing someone what to say, you don't want to use "etc." LOL
That would be awesome. There are some good tips here. Medicine is used for a reason! I hate how america has criminalized all drugs. If you need it then get it!
xanax is something of an "i dont care" drug. it allows you to brush off anything that may ordinarily be uncomfortable or stressful. (hence use for people with panic attacks)
I'm going to see my family doc next week, and I'm going to tell him that 3 yrs ago I use to be on celexa and zanax. But I'm only going to tell him I was only on 15 zanax a month as needed. and see if he will give them to me. What do you guys think. Cause I really need some zanax, like really fucking bad man. I think I'm going crazy and shit.. Do ya all think it will work.
say that you physically cannot speak. You get short of breath and panic. This is what happens to me. I'm not shy or socially anxious, but for some reason xanax is the only thing that can help me in this specific situation.
