I am pretty sure somebody has already created a thread about this but I want to know what your moral stance is on prostitution. From what I can gather, there are two types of people that choose to sell themselves for money. There are people that love sex and money and don't feel objectified by the experience. Then there are people that are helpless to do any other sort of work, for example I know somebody that became a prostitute in order to support herself and her mother who temporarily became a vegetable in a car accident. Knowing that by hiring a prostitute that you might be taking advantage of somebody in a desperate situation, is it then wrong?
Cousin was a prostitute, great grandma (same side of the family) also was a prostitute, I think cousin did it because she was defying her parents, and wanted to hurt them, she justified it by claiming that she loved the sex and money, but was in fact insecure, and seeking to hurt those who loved her, and validate herself thorough having sex, with people who were paying for it, thus, in her mind, increasing the level of validation dunno about great grandma, I understand she was a bit crazy (buried jars of bacon fat in the yard thinking that trees of household goods would sprout) so I can't say shit about her.
Well do you think that it is possible for somebody to be secure and level headed enough to simply do the job because they enjoy it? Your Grandma was a genius.
yes, absolutely, but due to there being so few secure people on this planet, I would have to say they are uncommon.
I believe it is a subject most would have an opinion on even though they have no clue. Even if you have someone close to you that works in that profession you still will be clueless and just drawing assumptions on what is really going on inside their head
Even though you have a point and you know what they say about assholes...I mean opinions, but that argument pretty much invalidates knowledge, correlation and opinion in general, on any subject, at any time, anywhere in the universe and is therefore not really relevant to any discussion, on any subject, at any time, anywhere in the universe. Have a nice day.
Dave Sorry if that seemed to be attacking you, but you have to admit, you never really know what went on inside your Grandma/Cousins head, it may not have been an ideal situation, but compared to some other professions, some other peoples lives.....
Well, yes. Maybe I should have added - especially as it is a profession that is very much hidden from the general population. Its not the same as saying people are clueless about how it is to be a police officer or something more in the public eye. I'm sure there are more than a few clients that use these services anonymously that say publically how immoral or wrong it is
I have personally known more prostitutes than I have known police officers and I pretty much have more primary evidence in my head as to what it is like to be a prostitute than to be a police officer. In fact, I personally don't understand why you would want to be a police officer, or any sort of law imposing civil servant and how you could derive any satisfaction out of it, but that is mostly because it is not really in my nature to want to control things. I like sex though and I think having sex for money would be a very kinky, eye opening and adventerous experience, but I don't think I could subject myself to it. I suppose I am just guessing like everybody else, but thats pretty much what humans do 99% of the time, even when it comes to ourselves.
Agree with you on cops. They do do a dangerous job, and you want one around when you really need one. But personally, most of the ones I've met are real arseholes
i'm all about more people becoming prostitutes, if that's their choice. i don't care for those who feel its morally wrong - they can go jump off a building
I've known a couple of strippers who did a little prostitution on the side. They seemed to take it very lightly - just a fun and interesting way to make some extra cash.
If it's their choice than whatever, it's not my place to say. I personally wouldn't do it, but I wouldn't do a lot of things. There are a lot of places that aren't as voluntary as it would seem... plus pimps are assholes.
I would not do it. I feel bad for the women desperate enough to risk their lives in that way. The stigma associated with selling your body is going to haunt them even if they get out of it. It may be the oldest profession, but it is also the least respected. Whore is not a nice word.
I thought the customer was just renting. If I get to keep it, well, I might have to go look under my sofa cushions for extra cash...
