im a noob here and read alot of trip reports etc. people mention comedowns etc & 5htp or whatever it is & vitamins. something worth mentioning that i recently learned is that protein intake has a massive effect on your serotonin production. i.e. you body needs enough protein to produce seretonin. so get yourself some whey protein powder & start downing some shakes, some are extremely easy to drink even when u dont feel hungry. iv got a sugar free/unflavoured one at the mo & it still tastes nice mixed with just water... im certain its made a difference in my overall feeling of wellbeing in combination with some mild weight training.:cheers2:
bananas and pasta are high in 5htp. L-tyrosine is another important one to have, precursor to dopamine. but you don't need to make that part of your daily diet, just post-load for a day or 3 after rolling.
5-HTP is great, but L-tyrosine doesn't work. It's actually the precursor to L-dopa, which is the precursor to dopamine. L-tyrosine, unlike L-dopa, is stored outside the synaptic cleft, and its channel is almost always saturated in any normally functioning brain. So, 99% of the time, it will all be excreted unmetabolised. L-dopa, on the other hand, will increase dopamine production, but if you're taking it for the sake of your health, you should reconsider, because higher levels of dopamine create greater incidence of free radical oxidation during your comedown, which results in brain damage. I use orange juice during the trip, and then when I wake up I have hot chocolate and green beans. Works like a charm.
