So I am sure any CP patient here (and maybe even buyers) have heard about the shortage of Oxycodone. It seems to have hit FL the hardest. I used to pay around $1 per Roxicodone 30mg without insurance before all this. Last month I had to pay $5 per fucking pill. Not only that, but the street price has almost doubled. Used to be $10 - $15 TOPS, now I am hearing up to $30. Just wondering if the shortage and price gouging is going on anywhere else still? If so, has it been showing any signs of getting better? FDA website says that things should be getting back to normal in the next 2 months, the last time I checked... I really hope so. Ha, as I was typing this...I was calling a pharmacy to see if they had them in stock since my appointment is soon. $10 per pill. Fucking street prices. Oh, and another thing these places are doing, is NOT taking insurance for Oxycodone only right now. I don't have insurance either way, but that seems really fucked up.
I read a letter from the FDA about this somewhere, lemme see if I can find it. But yeah, couple weeks ago I got 10 10-mg oxy's from the ER and I went through fuckin' hoops to get em - they had to call the ER doc, get prior authorization and bla bla ray ray for ten stinking pills.
I'VE brought it up here a few times and everyone just blew it off to be in my area. I tried to tell everyone here.(feelings you weren't here) Up here in Washington we have been out state wide sinse Jan.. Yep the whole state. The prices aren't going up here though. well probably cause there aren't any here..
We are getting some. The big chains that aren't price gouging are getting them in slowly, like 1-2 bottles a week...only enough to fill one or two scripts. It's really hard to catch them right as they get them in. I've gone as far as to call every Walgreens, CVS, etc...and ask them when they get their shipments in so I can call on that day to see if they got any in. One problem is that a lot of pharmacies are lying and telling people they don't have them even if they do, in fear of being robbed. So you have to just drive to pharmacy to pharmacy...and I hate doing that because they look at a 24 year old kid getting scripts like a complete junkie and I get treated like shit. There is a Sam's Club here that has a pharmacy, and the pharmacist is piece of shit. I called the other week, and he basically told me over the phone "You can come bring your script in, but if I don't like the way you look or if I think you don't need them or I think you abuse them, I will tell you to leave my pharmacy." Fucking bullshit. Isn't discrimination illegal? I am going to start bringing my MRI films, my MRI report, and all of my doctor's notes with me to every pharmacy and forcing the pharmacist to read them if he tries to turn me away. I did find out that there are compounding pharmacies that are compounding 30mg of Oxycodone with either 80mg of Ginger, or Lactose (I think it was Lactose) and charging $3 per pill. I guess it burns if you try to snort it, and it's really horrible for veins if you try to inject it. Another thing I have ran across is pharmacies turning me away because the doctor that wrote the perscription was from out-of-town...like as in not in the city the pharmacy is located. What the fuck is that about? How can they turn you away just because you go to a doctor that isn't in the area? What if you are on vacation and you need to get a script filled in a different state? It's absolute bullshit. Last month it cost me more for my script of Roxi's then it did for my script of Oxycontin.
You know what? This is what I was talking about with that douchenozzle pharmacist who wrote that blog. You are a PHARMACIST - you fucking FILL PRESCRIPTIONS. You DO NOT know better than my doctor and you DO NOT have the right to tell me to go away because you don't like my nipple rings or my shirt or whatever.
Problem is...pharmacist are being sued in overdose cases now. Parents of overdose victims are suing the doctors, AND the pharmacist. The doctor for writing the script, and the pharmacist for filling it. Nobody should be sued in a overdose case. It's not the doctor's fault that the person decided to abuse their medication. Every time I see one of these cases where a doctor is being sued, it just pisses me off. I immediately think "oh great, just another reason for doctor's to be scared to actually prescribe medications that help..."
I can't imagine my parents blaming anyone but my own stupid ass for my od'ing on meds, especially if the directions are clear on the label. It is a problem though, because even though the docs and pharmacists aren't really liable for someone being an asshole, their insurance premiums go up with every lawsuit even if they win. People suck, I swear.
here in canada, im not aware of any shortage. and i really hope theres not. the pills are fucking expensive regardless of a shortage or not though. starting next month, im not gonna be covered under any insurance anymore. so im going from paying 2$ a bottle to about 200$ a bottle. obviously the price will vary depending on the dose and how much im getting. but for a bottle of 120 oxy 20s, it was 188$ this is gonna suck..
There is not a shortage on Oxycontin. It's Oxycodone Immediate Release tablets...in all strengths, aka Roxis. There used to be 5 manufacturers, and now there are only 3 left, and from what I've gathered...the DEA wasn't letting the last 3 to increase production to meet the demand since they have a quota of medication they can produce.
hahahahaha..... douchenozzle.... :smilielol5: good one, dilly man, i used to pay between $5 - $12 for 30mg roxis. I MISS THE FUCK OUT OF THOSE DAYS, MAN! Now, people around my area (middle GA) are charging $20 - $30 per fucking pill!!!! that is fucking ridiculous.... and what's even worse is that they are raising the prices like that because people actually pay that much for them. Well, not me..... I FUCKING REFUSE!!! I will go straight thru withdrawals before i pay that much for these things.... It is getting better in my area, tho. that is, if you find the right people. there are still those goddamned fag-o-tron bastards that still try to make $25 profit off of every pill, just because they can... this i all street price, tho. i don't have a script, so i don't know much about the prices being raised in the actual pharmacy. the people i know aren't being gouged from my knowledge. people here are still paying the usual prices for roxi's, but they are just trying to rip people off because they know some people will pay out the ass for them... shit fucking kills me, man. i've been sticking to the yellow percocet 10's and oc 20's, because they are at good prices from where i get them. $3 a pop for the percs and $5-$7 for the 20's.
Sounds like it could have gotten to your area. Most of the United States is short on Oxycodone. Let me ask you this. Have you noticed a decrease in the availability of pills around there? Like are people running out sooner, or...normal guys aren't having them like they used to?
yeah, it's kind of weird. well, it WAS, anyway. It seems pretty much back to normal now. But for a while, the roxi's were totally gone. I mean, the motherfuckers disappeared. Then one person that I know got some roxi 15mg's, ya know, the green mallinckrodt ones.... and the shithead wanted $15 a piece for them!!! So, that's when I started looking for other things. I started getting a bunch of lortab 10's and then just doing a CWE on em. But that got old FAST. Then some OC 20's came around for a lil while and they were a good price ($7 a piece, $5 if you buy in bulk), so I stocked up on those until I ran out. And also, percocet 10's and 5's have magically reappeared after like a 2 year absence! IDK.... It seems like there was a quick shortage on roxi's here for a lil while, but I wouldn't say on oxycodone in general. And I think most of it was people noticed how scarce the roxi's were, so they just started gouging them just because they could, which is really flippin' gay. But like I said, everything seems to be back to normal now, except for the roxi issue. people still want double for the things. And everyone has them!
hahaha, that is a dead-on observation, my friend I'll be goddamned if I pay that much for those fucking things!
