Man i started my dreads over 2 and a half years ago and i was bought into propaganda aka dreadheadhq. I sectioned and backcombed and applied a little wax to my hair when i began. Over the next 2 months id apply once a week to my dreads because thats what i was told to do. By month 2 i had found this forum and stopped using wax for good. Months went by and many hot washes along with towel rubbing and i was seeing alot of wax build up come out. Well today 2 and a half years later i do another deep cleanse this time replacing the lemon juice with grapefruit juice i squeezed and added tea tree oil i picked up and wow man i had a fckin king size candle still on my head. After letting my hair soak for 30 mins with the deep cleanse i washed out and felt my hair very sticky. I went outside and started squeezing only to see yellowish white waxy shit coming out as well. Every single dread had this shit in it and it felt fckin nasty. I was in my kitchen for over and hour dipping each dread into boiling water on the stove and it just wouldnt stop flowing. I finally got tired and just took another hot shower and am currently letting my hair dry. It still feels sticky and theres still probably a hell of a lot of wax in it. I dont want to cut my hair its been so long with them i dont see how i could go without them if that makes any sense. I dont have dreads for looks and all that shit i have dreads cause i just want too i like em makes me stay true and not worry about other peoples thoughts. I just dont like the feel of my dreads atm so im just looking for guidance. Anyone know any remedies that could possible assist me in the removal of more wax from my dreads? Anything would help please lemme know :cheers2:
Idk any but I think it'd be possible to get it out, and I don't want this thread to like die with out you know if there are or not, so I decided to post to keep it alive =]
well if the grapfruite got that much out id stick with a simular plan only switch to pure orange esentuial oil or you can go industrial strength to a product known as dissolve it its orange oil and coconaute (and maybe bananaa?) oils it removes glues waxes adhesives tars caulks you name it..however, if you do go for the industrial strenbgth (but sttill 1005 natural) id do tests with it diluted 1st..its supwr strong and i ddont think it will dissolve hair but better safe then sorry maybe try 1/4 strength and work up from there thge main thing is..u gotta keep at it over and over wax is evil shit to get out \ i would serously conciderr starting a class action lawsuite against those companies think how many thousands of people been harmed by them u can also besides dissolving and melting it out try to use a ton of soap i hear dish soap.. but ya probly will be scrubbing a ton using a few bottles and doing it hours a day week after week another thiong ya can do..educate others.. post a vid of ya squeezing out the crap telling others how hard ya tried to removce it all and how only 2 months of normal use has caused 2 years of sticky nastiness as long as theres a dreadheadhq and a brayingdonkey out there saying waxx is ok we'll need many many whove experiencedthe horrors of wax out there telling the sticky truth dont be silent..make some noise and if ya back up the noise with a pricetagm (class action suite) they wont be able to get away with messin up others much longer
It's so fun deciphering your words se. No offense but have you ever reread anything you've typed to check for spelling errors or extra letters? lol
If i used the orange oil how would i go about doing it? Applying to the dreads directly or diluting with the deep cleanse? I also seen essential grapefruit oil and not sure do dont take my word but my pops told me grapefruits are more acidic than oranges. If so do you think grapefruit oil would work better than orange. Thanks for responses imma continue to do rinses and try all types of methods. What really worked was leaving a pot boiling over the stove and while the water is boiling dip your dread til it gets soaked quickly remove and squeeze over a sink. It works wonders if you used that nasty shit they called dreadwax
How long were you dreads when you started them and were using wax? E.g. what length of dread is now waxy? Also...were you problem-free and oblivious to the wax before you did the deep cleanse? Was it in there for two whole years not causing any problems until you knew about it?
Rofl you can't really do that.. No one has actually been harmed physically, its only your hair... No psychological effects, no physical scars... And no one can prove about wax, and no court would listen to dreadys cus they don't understand the first thing about anything And ok, wax is silly, but its OK for some people who use it sparingly King, I guess you just gotta keep dunkin' em in hot water It seems to be doing aload of good if its taking out that much gunk, so keep doing it till the water is clear?
this might be totally random, but.. i was watching a telly program about dirty houses, and the cleaning ladies put a few drops of pure orange oil into a big tub of water, and i think possibly some bicarb, and they used it to cut through the grime & grease around a basin... sooo maybe do the same for your locks? i used orange oil pure once, fecking stank the house out =/
No advice.. just offering some hugs. And if I lived close to you, I would go to your house and help you rinse it out.
years ago when i was like 17 i did house cleanning after construction wed have to clean tapes glues caulks all kindas of gunk off tiles and used dissolve it which is mostly orange oil and it literaly dissolved the adhesives making them easy to wipe away a combo of orange and grapefruitre probly would be great the ooils are super strong soi ya might wanna try in deep cleanse and incresase the steength gradualy..i think straight it will be overpowering and also hard to spread through the dread..better to have it carried along in water you probly are better off with a combo approach and dragonvine you absolutely can sue hairdressers are sued alot if the colo9r of a die job comes out wrong, or if bleaching leads to hair loss now selling a product that causes thousands of dreads to be cut, qand many others to try using dangerouse methiods like bioling water to fix the mess and your looking at a massive lawsuite.. back that up with thousands of testimonials and you can make a huge impact nobody will get rich from a class action case..at most ya might get a couple hundred each but it adds up a few thousand deffende4nts each getting only a hundred or 2 can easily be close to a million or at least 1/2 million.. enough to make them pull wax from theyre inventory
lol this hahaa... cracks me up... it's all legible, so no worries, but it's fun seeing how many extra letters are thrown in
Soaringeagle, what's up with you and lawsuits for stupid things? It would be completely retarded to sue for something so trivial. People who run around suing other people and companies for shitty reasons don't have anything good to offer society. They just waste people's tax money.
hows that waste tax money when the company pays courtt costs and lawsuites especialy class action lawsuites have always been used to effect corporate polocy asbestos would still be in every school if class action lawesuites werent used tio change policy tobaco companies would be selling to children woithout class action lawsuites and tobaco would not be labled with warnings without class action lawsuites cars wouldnt be safe.. remember the pinto i think that exploded if you kicked the bumper? class aqction lawsuites are the consumers only real way to demand safrer products after thye fact..sure boycottings good if your able to get the word out, but after the harms done the only way to influence polocy and prevent further harnm to others is through hurting them monatarily enough to make them change polocy it has to be done unless its brought to court we will always nbe in a struggle to clean up the messes caused by these companies with no morals. thge only thing they understand is proffit so that is where we must affect them to end the disasterouse use of wax
Have you heard of capitalism? There are loads of companies producing completely unnecessary products for the sole purpose of profit. These products potentially cause unintended consequences when used improperly. Are you going to sue a hammer company when you accidentally bash your thumb? Are you going to sue World of Warcraft for rotting little boys brains? For dreadlock wax there is absolutely no case because there are plenty of people out there who are happy with the product. Read the testimonials on their site (and don't say thats just DHHQ making things up to get people to buy their shit) Quit ignoring the fact that people on this forum have used wax with no ill effects and quit preaching about dreadwax companies who have no morals and need to be sued. On the more broad subject of suing, Americans who sue for dumb shit should be sued themselves for tying up the courts and wasting peoples' (and companies') time and resources. People need to quit suing and start taking responsibility for their own stupidity.
Also to the OP, sucks that you had all that residue in your hair but it seems a little suspicious that you didn't notice it until you did the deep cleanse. What do you use for shampoo?
I used dreadhead hq shampoo for a good while until i found dr bs in my town but that shit made my head sticky so i just started using baking soda cleanse without the tea tree or citrus. This last time i added 3 tablespoons of grapefruit juice and 10 drops of tea tree oil and like milky grease was being squeezed from my dreads and it was most certaintly wax. I dont plan on suing lol my fault for following their propoganda. I just am saying that it is a pretty shady company and dreads do not need that filth in their heads. I had always known i had some wax build up but after every hot shower i would get a towel and squeeze areas all over my dreads and get wax all over the towel so i was assuming i had gotten a decent ammount out. Turns out i still got shit loads in it after all this time so ye i dunno guess thats wassup but its all good imma continue to do the methods i did yesterday on a weekly basis this time adding essential grapefruit and orange to the concoction and possible do a ACV rinse sometime this coming month
or just make more noise about the idea of not using wax. i checked out that website to. and i really believe that they do love their dreads. there are alot of people that are happy with their products but through research and testimonials i have decided i will never use wax on my dreads!!!
youre the second person to own up to this,, me being the first :cheers2: keep washing, i bet youll get a load of the gunk out =]
