Sadly i dont think there is anything one can do to push for things like this, the same thing about positive and powerful can be said for many other drugs such as LSD and pot. They are much more beneficial than legal drugs like nicotine and alcohol. I dont see that in our life time any of these drugs will ever become legal only laws getting tighter and propoghanda becoming worse!
Do we really want to make DMT legal? At least the DMT containing plants are legal enough to buy, and unless you're running some huge DMT extraction/dealing house I doubt your going to get busted for using it. The problem is the intensity of DMT, I'm sure there would be alot of people abusing the hell out of DMT, just because it's legal, especially all the little 13 year old boys who want to try something new to get fucked up.
^^^^^^^^^^ agreed. if it was legal then it would really be out in the open and ppl that prob shouldnt be using it will be using it. i actually like how its not super easy to obtain it makes the use of it all the better because of wat u had to do to get it.
I would have to say that, if were available and easily accessible to the main stream; we would see abuse of this wonderful compound that would not be understood by many. It is best kept where it is. Like previous post stated, many plant are legal themselves so lets just keep it this way. Only people with adverse agendas will be caught.
you all remember salvia... and how it got blamed for murders/suicides.. i imagine the same thing would happen with DMT salvia is illegal in a month here in ohio
dmt in plant form is pseudo-legal. it's not technically legal but decisions by the supreme court which ruled that since it's sometimes used in a "non-druglike" fashion (in the case of certain people using it as a 'sacrament' in a 'religious' way) those who possess ayahuasca brews and such are unlikely if ever to be prosecuted for any crimes. this is about the best you could hope for. they are never going to make the smoking of crystalline powder DMT in crack pipes legal.
Some of you sound like elitists. Not cool. The rest of you are resigned to accepting the stupidity of other humans as if there were nothing we could do about it. What would the world be like today if that were the outlook of everyone who's ever been dissatisfied with the status quo? I shudder at the thought.
There's really nothing we can do to legalize dmt or even bring it down to schedule 2 along with opiates etc since it has no medical value whatsoever. I don't think the majority of the people would grow fond of the ego loss sensation dmt's capable of producing. It does, however, have a great spiritual cleansing value some (very few) can benefit out of. Great medicine if you ask me.
yeah Ohio is banning it because someone shot a 12 yr old kid and the kid who just happened to shoot him smoked the evil sage. "There was no direct evidence, however, that the shooting was drug-related." and you know that lady all over TV like CNN blaming it for her sons suicide. but that's salvia.. I thought salvia to be pretty weak in DMT's shadow.. can't imagine too many people, especially lawmakers, goin' for the "spiritual medicine" thing.. whether or not you're using it that way.. you know the whole stinky hippie thing..
The biggest shame is that it's all besides the point. I don't care how harmful a drug is to my physical or mental well being. The only person who can decide whether I should ingest it is me.
A persons freedom of choice is limited to the choices they free themselves to make. The only real law stopping DMT use is people saying "hey they stuff is 'illegal', maybe I shouldn't be doing it".. and given the nature of DMT and its minimal popularity and what-not, I can't imagine there's very many people out there saying that...
Not really. It has more to do with most people being unwilling to risk jail time to extract, synthesize, and/or sell it.
I don't know. The few times I've seen DMT I don't think anyone was worried about its legality. Unless you count being discreet as being paranoid, I thought it was just common sense, since in a case like DMT that's all it takes to beat the law. Of course I'm just talking about its use in general. People making / selling it have the same risks as any other schedule I. With Google, DMT / ayahuasca can easily be made for personal use. Just gotta wait for shipping.
You have a warped definition of easy. Spending 6 - 12 hours in front of a stove is not easy. Extracting it may not be the most difficult thing in the world--but why shouldn't I be able to order it from the internet without spending hours looking for some underground vendor and having to worry about whether it's a scam or the DEA is going to raid their files or something? What I said about DMT applies to all Schedule I, II, III, and IV substances. None of them should be illegal.
I guess experimenting with things is how my definition of ease got warped. I think ayahuasca is time-consuming, yes, but not really all that difficult. Maybe the ambience but brewing it outdoors on an open-fire makes the end product better than the stove IMO. Of course I agree no substance should be illegal. especially in a "democracy" like this where over 50% of the population believes marijuana should be legal.
Could we perhaps write to our various federal governments (or drug regulators, eg. TGA in Australia, DEA in USA) and ask them to provide a written document that explains exactly WHY it is illegal? And why it was made illegal in the first place? Then we could maybe send another response back to them refuting every single point they make. Whether or not this does anything I don't know. But it'd be interesting that's for sure.
