Andy Warhol happens to be a lot of young teenage girls' favorite...perhaps because he's widely known? Easy for people to say something and have their statement affirmed by somebody they seek attention from? I personally hate Andy Warhol - his style is rather bland and he has nothing extraordinary to show. I've only seen one of his pieces that I admired. I forget what it's title was but it was a print of a baseball player repeated on a huge canvas - still, it is a very bland picture.
humm.. i guess youre right it's not even the art so much i like, just the quotes. i hate the gun pictures though. they're really annoying
I can really appreciate Warhol. Art history is really what did it, such a great class. I loved all his album cover art
^What about him is so great? Like for real. I'll probably end up taking an art history class in college if I decide to go for an art major or something...totally undecided.
Bah! I think people who think museums are way cool need to come to the Nelson-Atkins. I went to the Guggenheim and have been to many other museums but nothing beats the Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas City. I enjoyed the Guggenheim though - purely for the architecture. What galleries they had open didn't impress me...like at all.
Not so keen on Warhol myself, but you cannot deny his influence. My favourite 20th century artist is LS Lowry.
he has some cool pieces, but its really, like, "hey, man. i could've done that!" yeah, but i didn't, but he seems like a prick too. he could've helped that girl of his house, edie with all her drug problems, but he didn't. not the person i want to appreciate!
The whole "i could have done that" deal is so lame when I hear it...mostly about Jackson Pollock...I don't like Andy Warhol because I just don't. I don't need a reason to say it doesn't do anything for me.
oh, i see. i wasn't really addressing you on a personal level if that's what you're thinking. which you probably aren't and i'm just being an arse, but i don't know. haha. anyhow, i respect your opinion.
Nah nah, I'm just speaking in general. It's cool if you like Andy Warhol, but to me it seems like how people say Einstein is a genius but don't know half a fart about what he did. Or Picasso is a great artist, but doesn't understand cubism
