I loved this book. I have read some about anarchism so that is the reason I went looking for it. I had found a quote from it in my readings. "It is the nature of the idea to be communicated, written, spoken, done. The idea is like grass it craves light, likes crowds, thrives on crossbreeding, grows stronger from being stepped on." When I found the book I was suprised because I hadn't realized that it was a novel. I thought it was a non-fiction book.

It really shows the differences of a society like ours and an anarchist society. I was quite happy to see that they even showed the anarchist societies power struggles. I did feel that the people of Annares(the anarchists) lives were a bit too utilitarian. By trying to keep away from wants they cut themselves off from a lot of beautiful things. That would be a very hard thing to do. All of their clothes were basically the same. Understandably I guess, since their world is very bleak. This is a great book that really makes you think. Highly recommended!
