Hey kids, Im goin to Arcata for the 4/20 scene goin on down there, I was only there once before and my impression of arcata wasnt great, then again it was fall and I only had a shitty sleeping bag and some socks (thank god I had those...). I was wondering if anyone had info on camping up in the park or somewhere chill, and if theres anything I should look out for while there, good or bad. Much love the asian people in that all night donut shop tho... they put up with my tired ass til about four in the morning. Thanks alot and much love!
I wouldn't camp in the forest, it aint as easy as it once was up in there, the leo's hit a couple times per night, if ya get north or south of there camping in the forest is easier, I really like the forest up behind CR, very peaceful, last i was there I found a lovely hippie-hut with a dream catcher hanging in it to cozy up in. If you are a vehicle dweller I have had luck parking by the railroad tracks on the west side of town but it is kinda sketch, APD likes to haunt a nearby carwash on K st. at night for some reason, north side of town off of guintolli is a street with a buncha motels on one side and a shopping center on the other, the street loops around back of the shopping center, on that side there it is prime camper parking, you can camp there for days and no one will do shit, there are usually at least 3 other campers, maybe school-bus and a couple vans chillun there, snug in with them and you'll be cool. I have had luck hanging around the freshman dorm's designated smoking area at HSU looking for a couch to surf, usually a smoke out or a dosing will line you up with a couch/dorm floor and possible access to a trustafarian's school issue meal card. At HSU in J parking lot there is a small building with no windows next to the trees, on the side facing the 101 is a big vent that allways has a shitload of hot air blasting out, in the middle of winter in a sleety downpour you can sit in front of this thing in shorts and a t-shirt and be nice and toasty, it works very well for drying socks, if campus cops dont kick you off it is an awsome place to sleep, 3 of us one time passed out there and were not bothered. 4/20 in the park has seen a lotta cops past year, last year's 4/20 this hippie momma made me a hash waffle, gave me a bunch weed cookies and a massive shroom choco with acid dripped on it, sat on clam beach and smoked a massive joint, twas a fine day.
Hey thanks so much man! What is a leo? See if I go I wont really have much of a choice but to camp up in the woods... are there any chill spots in the park anymore? I wont have a vehicle and I'll be with a friend, I gotta find the chillest place possible... Where are the woods above CR? Ive only been down there once....thanks again for the info man I really appreciate it!
wait... did you mean you could throw a tent up at that camper spot behind the shopping center and be chill?

man that shit kicks ass, last race I saw there was this dude with a big orange and white clown bike type contraption with giant balloon tires, to make it go the operator had to jump up and down on the bike seat. I wouldnt pitch a tent back there but it's worth a shot, that spot mainly applies to those who dwell in their wheels.
