the longest my hair's ever been was around the middle of my back right after i graduated high school. i thought about getting dreads, but changed my mind and shaved it instead (turned into a big ordeal. i had the longest hair out of any dude in my school so a lot of people showed up to take part in cutting off me mop). anyway, yeah, my hair's getting kinda long again. about down to my shoulders and i'm thinkin' about getting dreads just to get this damned hair out of my eyes a bit. jeebus. i'm tired of this shit getting in my face. it's fucking with my basketball game and shite. so yeah. dunno for sure if i'm gonna get 'em, but my buddy's sis can do 'em (i don't think she's ever done a white guy's hair before, so i dunno if it'll turn out that great). whatever though. it's something i'd like to be able to say i've had...dreads.

Awesome.. Get them ^^ It doesn't matter if your mate's sis hasn't done it before, as long as you know how to do it you can know if she isn't doing it to your standards, then tell her to do it better xD Is she going to backcomb them?

    thats backcombing.
literally just combing ur hair backwards until its knots up.
except for the part where she splits it in 2 and twists.
    thats some stupid crap.

or u could stop combing ur hair for several months and get dreads that way.
    what ever floats ur boat.

go for it! just know that they wont look good right away. it takes months or years. but in the end, if you have the patience, you will love them!

if your hairs long it will dread pretty fast naturaly
or you can force start i\it by backcombing or twist n rip
id recommend twidst n rip over backcombing (well natural id recomend over every other)_
i would be very wwearryy of having her do then if you dont knowe EXACTLY what shes gonna do

almost all saklon dreads are a disasrter
and u definately dont want wax glue or gells (yes some use gle or even latex)

u want only backcombing otr twist n rip nothing else
    make sure of that

again id say natural is best but maybe lil slower in some hair types
    if your impastient
    twist n rip or backcomb

in the dready information desk see my methods thread

You really don't get dreads. Your hair just dreads over time. You grow dreadlocks, not aquire them. I highly recommend it. It's the best thing I ever did for my hair. I totally don't don't do a damn thing with it and looks great all the time. I just rinse with water, and separate the dreads when the start to grow together.

Just make sure this friend's sister doesn't just twist em. I'm asuming she's only done african hair by the way you wrote it. twists WILL NOT work on caucasian hair. you can backcomb or you can twist and rip. there are plenty of videos out there on the method. my only advice is stick around this forum to get a good idea of what method to use.
