Yes, the tea party protests were by no means grassroots, and I believe it was more controlled opposition for the media to have a field day with. However, it's interesting to see how CNN covered the event, interviewing only highly emotional people and showing only protest signs aimed at making everyone at the protests out to be angry right wing partisans. The media's aim as propagandists is to create polarization within the bogus left/right paradigm. However, this video also shows what CNN did not choose to air. First it shows the sorry excuse for journalism displayed by CNN correspondant Susan Roesgen, then her being confronted (and rightfully put in her place) by protesters angered by her astounding unprofessionalism as a journalist, who was sent out to cover the protests and not air her own personal bias. Yeah, I've been to protests like that. It gets pretty nasty when two sides cross the line and get in each others face.
Yeah, but it's not even about sides. As the woman seen in the video is heard saying, many of the people there dislike both the Democrats and Republicans. Most people were not there to protest soley against Obama or the Democrats, but both parties which are equally to blame for all of this. It was this journalist, Susan Roesgen, who spun it into a partisan issue in order to push the media's own agenda. The only person I see crossing the line in this video is the journalist, who, as I said before, is supposed to be there simply to report on what's going on, not inject her own political views into the coverage.
I've never seen a journalist do that before. It's not really reporting at all, but I think everyone watching knows that.
Fox,CNN equally bad.And to think these stations are shown Worldwide is even more pathetic. It's ashame the US news media "once known" for having pretty good news stations, fine reasonably unbiased coverage, great journalists with integrity etc. etc. has sunk so LOW.In my opinion the 24 hour stations are what started the downfall of how news is covered in the US,and yes it has gotten to the point where it is no better than propaganda.---I'll take the BBC anyday now,at least they don't "spin" the news around.--Why does anyone still even view CNN/Fox? I certainly do not.
Agree, but the BBC does it alot less.I'm not a big fan of the BBC either however when you compare it to contemporary American news stations the BBC is better. Then again it does not take much effort to be better than the likes of CNN/Fox etc.
Why is the TC surprised that American news groups are trying to get money by being biased to one side or the other? If they want to succeed to Mexico, go.
Yeah, the BBC has as much spin as any American news network. I mean, they were started by the British government to disseminate propaganda. It's just that most of the non-US based media is more covert in their spin. I cannot think of any major media outlet, as well as many of the independent, so-called alternative news outlets, that don't resort to spin.
Lol. I was only really addressing the people here, pretty much the few people who have posted in this thread. That means you. Ok, I'll be direct: "Are you fair, balanced and do you spin anything" (please do not say you spin plates, as this could get very tedious. )
Another terrible thing about American media nowadays is what they do NOT report.I always point to this example: you rarely if ever hear them expose the drug companies for what they are, could it be because these companies pay huge $$$$$ for pushing drugs by advertising? Absolutely!---I've seen the BBC do some spot on accurate reporting on these big pharmaceutical companies.---And the drug companies are just one example of many.
Instead of trying to blame all the media as having a bias, I make myself aware of their biases and select the ones that I think offer better reports, appropriate journalism, a more balanced view to use as a citation.
This Seriously, all media is going to biased as long as it's being reported by a human with a brain and an opinion, you just need to learn to read through the bullshit
Opinion is opinion. Reporting shouldn't be about opinion...it should be about the facts...all the facts known. Journalism can be sloppy though. A journo' grabs something off the AP, and doesn't bother to do any work for themselves...and doesn't bother to correct any mistakes. I'd say that was worse than bias. Well, that's my opinion
