    Greetings, fellow barefooters,

I just received a posting from the SBL mailing list, containing an article link, which deals with the effects of dirt. Or, to be more precise, the common soil bacteria: they can have antidepressant effects, since they activate certain brain cells to produce serotonine...

So, consequently, walking barefoot over soil and getting our soles dirty in the process is not only making us barefooters happy on a subjective level, now we have scientific proof!!

    :hurray:

The article can be found here.

wiggling happy toes (although, after some foot care tonight they're no longer dirty... almost makes me sad...),

    Thanks for the link!

The image they chose for the article is interesting; one child shod, one not...

Indeed :) It was speculated, that the barefoot kid must be twice as happy, getting both hands and feet dirty.

    Wiggling antidepressive dirty toes,

that really speaks awesome news! i think that Pfitzer corp. wont be so positive about that, though [lol] , because as i keep stressing as the first cause of barefeet bias, bare feet are for free and free things are supposed to be CHEAP (like sunlight, fresh air...) !

If you are walking around barefoot, you must be confident and relaxed. Do not discount the positive effect that will have on your health.

I agree. It's great to take your shoes and socks off after work and feel free, relaxed and the many different surfaces you can walk on which not only massage your feet but enliven your whole body.

Most definitely so - going barefoot definitely helps me feel better in terms of the depression.

Now, it looks like parents have one less excuse to tell their kids to stop eating dirt when they want to! Not only that, but maybe I should eat some dirt instead of Effexor!

Since the Dirty or Clean thread is currently reopened I thought I would reopen this great post from Ganesha 1967 - THE DIRTY SOLE FOLKS ARE HAPPIER!

WoW, that's amazing news. No wonder barefoot people are generally happy people. When's the last time you ran into a barefoot person who was miserable or nasty?

I'm not surprised at this, i've always been happiest with muddy bare feet.
I had assumed the barefooting was stimulating my reflexology points.

Welcome back! If you get really angry that easily - you need to talk to someone about it.

Hopefully, you are thinking about all of this and are really a barefooter too!
