It's exactly three months since the much-talked-about war, and Gaza is once again forgotten. Israel has never taken an interest in the welfare of its victims. Now the world has forgotten, too. Two weeks with hardly a Qassam rocket has taken Gaza completely off the agenda. If the Gazans don't hurry up and resume firing, nobody will take an interest in their welfare again. Although not new, this is an especially grievous and saddening message liable to spark the next cycle of violence. And then it will be certain they won't get aid because they will be shooting.

After the conference of donor countries, which convened to great fanfare in Sharm el-Sheikh a month and a half ago, which included 75 countries and agreed to transfer $1 billion to rebuild Gaza, nothing happened.

Gaza is besieged. There are no building materials. Israel and the world are setting conditions, the Palestinians are incapable of forming a unity government, as is needed, the money and concrete are nowhere to be seen and the Abu-Aun family continues to live in a tent. Even the $900 million promised by the United States is stuck in the cash register. It's doubtful whether it will ever be taken out.

Somebody must assume responsibility for the fate of the victims. Visit http://www.vivapalestina.org/ and scroll down to where it talks about Viva Palestina USA. Become a part of it!

I remember the recent attacks on Gaza and I also remember Lebanon.

People like James are the exception rather than the rule around here. I am sure he's one of the misguided that attended a teaparty supporting the very people that have abused the system and his very own interests and lead this country and the world into financial disaster. But he will defend them to his last breath.

I'll be blunt, fuck the Palestinians. In 1948 all the Arabic countries were supposed to take them in,guess what NOT one of those countries wanted them.-----More recently Kuwait FORCIBLY kicked out and evicted over 350 thousand Palestinans after the Gulf war,so did Saudi Arabia. For the few of you that love the Palestinans I got news for you ,they do NOT love you back. They are the most overrepresented group of people on the media, and as far as I and many people Worldwide are concerend Israel should do whatever they want to protect themselves.--Kuwait did.AND any other country with a similiar situation would have come down on the Palestinians a thousand times harder than Israel has and done it a long time ago.

I am afraid the days of unilateral uncritical support of Israeli bullies is over. Your hate filled response is just another example of the extremism most rational citizens of the world aren't buying any longer.

It's the opposite,I and most rational people root for the good guys Israel. And the World is sick of hearing about Palestinians.I think most intelligent rational people know by now that the Palestinians are like a rattle snake,no matter how nice you are or how much you give it,it's going to bite you.---Anyhow this thread is not even worth further responses from me.

The OP is polemical. They are hardly going to talk down the situation, are they? Besides...I doubt they are the OPs thoughts...Probably cut and pasted from another source.

    Thought so.

Gideon Levy (Hebrew: גדעון לוי‎; born 1955) is an Israeli journalist for the Haaretz newspaper, where he is also an editorial board member. He is a prominent left-wing commentator.[1] He served as spokesman for Shimon Peres from 1978 until 1982.
