Yes it is a crochet hook, or something like it. Sorry I couldn't translate...I didn't move here very long ago and don't speak much norwegian..my boyfriend tells me what it says!

Is the needle way not the right way?

Oh no, it's just one of the ways...and yeh probably one of the harder ones to do yourself...and quite a few mixed views about it here. On the plus side...it's a lot more ok than what some salons would do. Did you say you were gonna pay the guy in tattoos?

btw Do you live in Oslo? And how long have you been in Norway? Are you English?

there is no right or wrong way to do dreads it is whatever way you want to do it and is right for you. some people including myself use a crochet hook for maintenece which works great, it tidys them up quite well and can help locking, there are videos around that show you how to do it, i took a look at the site, i couldnt read the norwegian and for some reason google translator wont go through the pages it gets stuck at the homepage, however some of the pictures look really dodgy

In short they try to avoid the use of wax, and their main method is crochet.

    Metode Mekanisk, ikke kjemisk!

    Mechanical not chemical.

Vi ønsker og anbefaler å unngå voks så langt det er mulig

    Recommend avoiding wax where possible.

da det både er mer hygienisk, praktisk og pent enn den tradisjonelle "hiv i masse voks"-metoden.

more hygienic, practical and pretty than the traditional shove in a load of wax method

    Heklenål er vårt viktigste verktøy.

Crochet hook is our most important tool

Det legges stor vekt på at kunden skal fortsette å være fornøyd også etter at han eller hun har forlatt studio.

Big emphasis on the customer continuing to be satisfied after they've left the studio.

Fair enough I suppose...can't expect a salon to send people away with pufflocks I guess.

In general, they do tend to fuck stuff up a lot less in Norway, I've noticed.

    thanks amy
Well you could still go in the salon in person and take a look around and ask any questions if your still unsure?

Also check their dreads out too if they are good then chances are yours would be too :)

Sorry for mega multiple posting by the way...

Well they also do fake dreads, extensions, human hair extensions.. maybe in that pic they're just doing what lots of people on here do...wrapping some stuff round whilst the dreads are still locking or something *shrug*
