so im registering for spring classes, and i have to pick one of the three concentrations... im having trouble deciding though... personally i think i would rather go with the MCSA, because id rather be working on computers/supporting users sorta. ideally i would like to be the net admin for a small business/company, doing mostly everything. however, my ccna instructior and advisor who is the head of the networking dept. say that i should go with the CCNP. i have thuroughly enjoyed (most) of the ccna curric, but routing protocols and such are just not for me, and thats what alot of the ccnp is, the super intense stuff. so i was just wondering what some of you guys had to say since you'v been there done that.
Let me tell you that Microsoft only has about 25-30% of the server market, and falling. Actually, it may be less now... To make matters worse, there are more MCSA's than CCNA's, CCNP's, or RHCE's. The demand for MCSA is lower because the supply is surplus. There is a big demand for RHCE because the server market is leaning on Enterprise Linux. Not a whole lot of people know Linux well, so the demand is high. CCNP is always needed. You can learn Cisco stuff and still get a job in the same line of work using Juniper or other brands. Cisco is general networking with Cisco specific items.
well, after much thought and consideration i have decided to go for the CCNP. now i just gotta get my CCNA cert in the next month or two. im pretty excited, and a bit concerned about my fall semester, its gonna be quite work intensive. im taking: building scalable networks, building multilayer networks, intro to programming and logic, database administration, and web markup and scripting. i know i can do the cnnp if i put my time into it, but i know know anything about programming or web scripting. but this is how i felt before my linux class last fall, not having any experience with it and i ended up with an A. but i am just now starting to realize that in about exactly a year i will be getting a degree and going into a career, im pretty psyched.
