I was just wondering what you guys thought about my dreads. It's been 2 weeks day. Dandruff is still crazy right now, but I got some spray for the itch. I've washed them 3 times now and put rubber bands at the roots to help hold them together. The locs aren't tight and the roots aren't tight either, don't know if I should be worried about that or not. There are also a lot of stray hairs, I was wondering if I should do anything with those? I'm about to wash my hair again with the new Kiss my face shampoo I got. Any advice on what I should when after I wash it?

    thanks

got any pics? your only 2 weeks in...everything you described is normal. this is what I use for my dandruff problems and it works fantastic! I only have to wash once a week.

RE your dreads: its in your best interest to throw a tam on and forget about them for a couple of months....only pay attention to em when you wash em.

im not the expert you want answers from...but i'll give it a go anyways :)

looks good so far...2 weeks in really isn't too much, so the loose roots and everything are to be expected, completely normal from what i've heard/read

im guessing most people are gonna tell you to take out the rubberbands...

make sure the soap you're using is a non-residue leaving soap...i havent heard of the one you mentioned so i dunno...just double check to be sure

loose hairs=dread food.......leave em be, they'll get sucked in and make ur dreads big and strong, like broccoli for lil kids

a wool tam or something can help...loose enough to allow movement, but adds a lil friction for more knotty goodness...i've read of people making wool pillow cases as well...

...and for the SE comment...something along the lines of "looks great, take out the rubberbands, stop worrying about them, stop looking in a mirror, and just live life...they'll happen" he'll probably give you more details as far as soaps and sprays for helping with the dandruff and whatnot though, mixed in with a bunch of typo's  hehe

a sea salt mixture is supposed to do wonders...

edit: mandyland did the "se comment" well i knew SOMEONE would say that anyways hahaha

lol no typo's that i saw off the bat...i could go proofread for you if you wanted

i love SE's typo's...just cause they're absolutely everywhere...i imagine him typing with like his entire hand instead of just fingers haha...

if you ask him hed prob say he was bullied off. and to some degree he was...and thats sad. i dont think he was banned. I kinda miss the craziness he contributed to this forum. granted his advice was narrowminded and the guy is stubborn as hell but he was also always good for a laugh and well....i like crazy hippies.

    i agree with whitemarley...although so long as u don't brush u'll get dreads :)
And is all the white stuff your dandruff? Rosemary is suppose to be good for that.
Anyway - just forget about em for a while!

Yea, they started itching today to I scratched, that's why you can see so much back there.

I have some rosemary, how do you suggest I use it exactly?

I'm also afraid that some of them might be to big.. Should I fix that now or not worry? Like the ones on top especially.

Dreads? You ain't got dreads yet. Your on the right track though. I personally would take the bands out, I missed acouple and they ended up melting into my hair. I had to cut those chunks out.

They arent looking bad too me, lose the bands and youl be set
Ive had bas experiences with bands, then end up gettiing swallowed by the dreads as they beging knotting, and sometimes he plastice deeriorates and wers out and metls into the dreads, so you get this sticky googy back shit in them, be careful :)

if ur really worried that they might be too big, then i would suggest fixing that now...

you can always make your dreads bigger by letting them congo...making them smaller aint exactly easy street

If you decide on splitting some of your dreads (while you still can) be sure to split it completly. A couple of weeks after I started my dreads I wanted to split one too, but because I didn't do it all the way too my scalp in one little bit it just congo'd back together.
I don't mind now though, I think it might have been too thin if I had split it.

take out the bands dude, they'l just get eaten by your dreads, palm roll them daily and wash them atleast once a week

get a spray bottle and mix 500ml hot water 1 tbl sp of sea salt (not table salt) and add 10 drops of tea tre oil and spray all over every day, but don't soak the dreads

as others would say if your dreads are too think I'd split them now before it's too late

you will probably start to see a difference after 6 months but will still look crap for the first year or two everyones does

    goood dreads = patience x time :)

How much are these going to fall out before I need to worry? The roots aren't locking, just making a mess.
