That's cool : ) I like the manual machines. I do have an old hand wind Singer from the 20's, I would really love to have a treadle one that is set in a table but right now I don't have anywhere I could keep it.

wow, minus the rabbit ears, there isn't one chore listed here that we don't still do around here.

Oh and treehugger.... that 'self clean' function isn't magical, it comes at a huge cost in terms of energy. Save yourself a lot of work and money by lining the bottom of the oven with tinfoil.

we used to wash clothes by hand and it mega mega bites! It doesn't get them that clean, you can't get enough water out for
them to not drip for days and it kills your back and hands

I don't have to clean the barn anymore, or chase cows, or fix fence, or feed cows and chop holes in the ice so they can drink
    (Mamma sold the herd)

our TV would have weird numbers for the channels(not 2 for channel 2 and 3 for 3) and my dad would yell if I didn't do it right fast enough so when he wasn't around I made up a cheat sheet(3rd grade)

I still do the dishes-dishwashers use nastier chemicals

I can hand sew but am hoping someone will show me how to thread the sewing machine I inherited

also used to have to haul groceries up the hill to our house on a sled when the car couldn't make it...argh
    peace

I would play with my toys in front of the tv and when my dad wanted the station changed (to one of the 3-4 others-lol) he'd have me change it- I was his original remote control...thats a lost chore, for sure

Hanging clothes out to dry on the clothes line. Sometimes the birds would shit on them, and they would have to be re-washed. And if we heard thunder, we would have to rush out and take them down quickly.

I just recently bought a clothesline-love them-but my roommates thought they were 'low class' and 'white trash'-but then they bitched about the electric bill-so i used it while they were gone...

Splitting fire wood. As a kid my dad would make me split wood in the coldest of weather. Now my brother does. Its a good skill to have and most people have electric heating now days. When the power goes out for a few weeks. We split some wood. Relying only on electric power is a baaaad idea.

lol with Zero! Ah yes, the sadistic birds! Worse when they had been eating berries! Also you had to run if the neighbors' combine was coming to harvest the wheat, unless of couse you LIKE chaff in your undies!

We still chop wood. They say wood heats you more than once.
When you cut the tree, when chop it, rick it, haul it in, and finally burn it. oh joy;-/

Yeah I remember during the dust bowl wed go out and kill locusts and rabbits for chores.

Now if you have dust in your house, youre uncivilized.. try living through 10 years of black blizzards..

We werent raisin' cane like the kids nowadays
