Dread Beads

I'm trying to get this bead onto one of my dreads but it won't go all the way through the bead. Anybody have any suggestions on how to get my phatty dreads into my phatty bead?

How tight are the dreads? Can you twist them a little tighter so it will fit through the bead?

if i had a scanner or digital camera i sure would put a picture up....my phattiest (haha i made up a word) is like 3 inches around...but the others are kinda random....natural method really creates dreads with personality
