The Qur'an, Quroan, Koran are three of many ways to spell it(spellings change in translation sometimes). This is an off shoot because he is not Budhist but still has many ideas for anyone interested in other religions. Smart guy, and I like him to say the least. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Alpert If you find any of his writings he has much to teach.
RAM DASS is my personal 'guru' of sorts. i mean, of course he's no guru, but he's as close to a spiritual leader i have ever accepted. everybody should read 'REMEMBER BE HERE NOW'. also, to the OP, if you are into buddhism, check out the Bhagavad Gita and RAM DASS' book 'paths to god: living the bhagavad gita'. it's hindu philosophy, but buddhism is an offshoot of hinduism and many of the tenets are the same. especially karma yoga, jnana yoga, etc. and somebody mentioned the tao te ching. very cool if you can get into it and try to understand what is being said. the tao is not the tao :cheers2: PM me if you wanna chat about it
A freind Showed me the book "Be Here Now",the part that I have read so far is interesting but I havn't been reading it long.
"convert" to buddhism? I don't understand. You can be an atheist buddhist, and christian buddhist, a utilitarian buddhist, or a nazi buddhist. Buddhism is a set of views and philosophies regarding the nature of the universe. For example, the first axiom of buddhism is "there is suffering". Very general and abstract stuff, it's not "do this on this day and wear this and say this" type rules.
yeah if you know any cool websites that would be cool. otherwise i might check out the library one day i don't know.
