I posted in another thread and it rose this question in me. Would you eat meat if livestock wasn't raised in the conditions and manner that most is?

All in all, if it came down to your primal instinct for survival, would you eat meat? Would you go out and use your divine animal right to hunt for nourishment and survival?

I eat meat. I think it's the most natural process. We indeed are animals, as well. I don't necessarily agree with caging mass amounts of animals for easy production and "controlling" nature, but I don't really agree with just about anything in the world today. I love vegetables. I probably eat more vegetables than meat, but meat is a normal diet for humans.

I honestly think it's a bit of mumbo-jumbo. I do respect the decision and lifestyle. My sister was a vegetarian for years. To each his own, but nobody is really a vegetarian, I think. If it came down to life and death and survival, eating meat wouldn't be a problem. It's a decision/lifestyle, not a natural thing in my mind.

Personally no as its just not food for me. Its not something I have any desire to put my lips near and ever since I was mature enough to process exactly what meat was in relation to my body I havent seen it as edible for me

I think generally those who would want to eat flesh were the animals raised in better conditions simply buy from more ethical sources and are therefore not vegetarian

For me, being vegetarian isn't just about being against the treatment of the livestock, but the impact rearing the animals for meat (and dairy) has on the environment. There's a helluva lot of people on this planet, and providing them all with meat is a destructive process on the Earth. Not to mention that the fact we're exploiting other living things for our taste buds is absurd to me.

So, no, even if the animals were treated better, it doesn't eliminate my reasons not to eat meat. And if I can survive on a diet without animal flesh, it can't be all that important can it? Eventually I plan on becoming vegan and getting rid of all animal products from my diet.
